'America Party will be formed': Musk vows to form new political party if Donald Trump's 'big, beautiful bill' passes Congress

Billionaire Elon Musk has intensified his criticism of Donald Trump’s controversial $3.3 trillion spending bill, vowing that if the legislation passes Congress then he would immediately launch a new political party.

US President Donald Trump’s widely anticipated ‘big, beautiful bill' is currently making its way through the US Senate which will bolster tax benefits for businesses and higher income households while threatening health insurance for millions of Americans.

The bill, which is more than 900 pages long passed a significant hurdle on the weekend and passed a procedural vote advancing in the Senate largely along party lines with all but two Republicans voting in support of the legislation.

The Senate is debating the measure and a raft of amendments before taking a final vote, with the bill then set to go to the House for another vote to then ultimately be signed by the US President before becoming law.

However, billionaire and former key Trump ally turned critic Elon Musk renewed his attacks against the US President's spending legislation on Monday, arguing that it underscores the need for a new political force and pledged to establish a third party if the bill was signed.

Posting as the Senate moved closer to a final vote, Musk announced on X that “if this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day.”

“Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE,” Musk wrote after weeks of relative silence.

The world’s richest man who until recently played an active role in the Trump administration labelled the exorbitant spending package an “insane domestic policy bill”, and on Monday US time threatened to wield his considerable financial resources against Republicans who backed it.

You’re correct Elon...except in DC, at this juncture, trust Trump.

In America many politicians are bought.

Musk has plenty of money.

I know Donald Trump, and Elon Musk is no Donald Trump.

There was once an American Party, but it was better known as the Know-Nothings.

I used to be for more than two parties. I believe much as you: the Democrats and Republicans are one party in the bigger scheme of things. And they do not tolerate serious challenges from any people who might upset their hold on power.

So I'm not a partisan person at all.

The older I've gotten though, the more I've come to realize and resigned to accept that many if not most Americans LIKE being under control of the uniparty. They're too scared to leave it. It's slavery that they are comfortable with. If a third party makes any headway, its agenda is adopted by and then bastardized by one or both of the two major parties. And then people are made to believe that ONLY the Democrats and Republicans have the power to change things. That's especially how they get conned into believing that a vote for third party or independent is "throwing your vote away".

MAGA is the one movement in many decades that is bucking the trend. Hope that Trump appreciates that.

I have a sneaking feeling that he is doing it to drain off voters who might vote for a Democrat more than a Republican.
85 million Trumpers will be loyal to MAGA candidates or even a Trump 3rd term. . Lots of historical dem. voters don’t like the woke Marxist party.
Remember what Ross Perot did to GHW Bush/Clinton 1992.
IMHO

It is a foolish idea. Trying to form a 3rd party from dissatisfied Republicans and conservatives would just split the party and give Democrats back the Senate, House, and then the Presidency in 2028. The left would love for MAGA to become divided. Who is paying all the “influencers” on social media to pretend there is support for such a ridiculous idea? Musk? Democrats?

Right now, we have the best opportunity we’ve had in decades to right the ship. Closing the border and deporting so many of the criminals will help cure many of our problems. Trump is trying to address other issues as quickly as he can. My goodness! Look what he has done in six months and that is while fighting both the Dems and the GOP. Not to mention the media.

No, things won’t be perfect, but we aren’t going to get that no matter what. But splitting the party would put us right back on the path of destruction the Obama/Clinton/Biden cabal had us on for so many years.

Hard to imagine Musk’s party getting traction as long as Trump is around. He may pick up a few Dems and idiot Republicans, but that’s about it.

After Trump is gone...then, hopefully, Vance can carry Trump’s torch. If Vance isn’t there (for whatever reason), then things will get ugly for conservatives.

I despise Democrats. I don’t like Republicans all that much either.
However I vote my wallet.
Republicans always win.

MAGA is bucking the trend, but we are where we are, because Trump ran for president as a Republican, as a nominee of one of the two major parties.

Could he have succeeded with MAGA if he had run as a third party candidate? At one time he had considered being a candidate of Ross Perot’s Reform Party.

There have been two major parties for almost all of American history. They have not always been today’s Republican and Democrat parties. Has a third party or independent candidate for president ever won a presidential election? Anyone know?

With his massive wealth, Elon Musk thinks he’s “king of the world.” It would sure be terrible if his government contracts suddenly disappeared, his space ports received an OSHA and EPA protology exam, etc.

You may be the richest man in the world, Elon - but, contrary to your narcissistic belief, you’re not the most powerful.

FAFO, buddy.
