GOP senators back bill stiffening penalties on violent activists 'creating dangerous situations

In the wake of anti-ICE protesters and rioters trapping drivers in Los Angeles and other cities in recent days, Republican lawmakers want to make blocking streets a federal crime.

Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., will seek this week to make it a federal crime to obstruct or create intentional traffic. The "Safe and Open Streets Act" is a direct response to the "radical tactics of anti-ICE protesters who have intentionally blocked roads and highways across the country," Tillis said.

Lawbreakers could face fines or up to five years in prison.

It would be packaged as Pro-Commuter but ultimately like its Pro-Business can’t stop the economic engine can’t stop those Amazon trucks from finishing their appointed rounds.

Good, then enforce it.

California already has a law that could potentially be used against these rioters.

In California, Penal Code 236 PC defines false imprisonment. It's the unlawful violation of a person's personal liberty, meaning someone is restrained, detained, or confined without their consent. This can be a misdemeanor or a felony depending on the circumstances<>

to the left liberal retards who may be against this, we can point out that other liberals has enjoyed using cars to ram into people, say at UVA.

hopefully they’ll step up and catch up to the numbers on the opposite side. and there should be no more arguments if equal number of people are being pinned by cars.

Not good idea, unless the road serves mainly interstate traffic. The locals need to learn the hard way that the must get bold in opposing the blockages rather than run to the feds for the cure.

A simpler solution would be to legalize shooting the terrorists blocking your car.

“ a direct response to the “radical tactics of anti-ICE protesters who intentionally block roads and highways across the country,”
——-

Well no, a direct response would be to shoot them in the face, or run them over. We already 90,000 Federal, State, and Local laws. We don’t need any more.

It’s already unlawful to block the highway. It’s already unlawful to hit people in the head from behind with a bike lock on a chain. It’s already unlawful to Doxx people.

What we have is a problem of Prosecution. Enforcement. More laws are not enforced are not the answer.

Alternately, they could issue $1000 bounty for people running over traffic blocking protesters.

It would surely spark a cottage industry. I have an old truck out front that would be perfect. Mount a GOPRO in the dash and go in for a frontal attack. The only rule is no driving on the sidewalks. A $500 penalty for each person hit while standing fully on the sidewalks, but you still get the $1000 credit for the hit.

Laws mean nothing if you don’t enforce them, and I don’t see that happening.

In the wake of anti-ICE protesters and rioters trapping drivers in Los Angeles and other cities...

In Florida if 'protesters' block the road and we feel threatened - we can just keep driving. If protesters don't move out of the way they'll be run over. I suspect our laws are part of the reason this is being looked at...

And leave the bodies as a warning.

It is getting to the point where the only way to deal with this problem is to declare martial law, put the army out on the streets with orders to shoot to kill and Apache gunships up in the air to nape every neighborhood where there are riots.

A few crispy critters and a few incinerated neighborhoods might put an end to a lot of foolishness.

During the BLM nationalized riots, the idiots blocked a ramp of a major interstate in my city (Pittsburgh) made me late and furious.

Freeways are paid for with federal money for interstate use, so there is a direct interstate commerce excuse for this.

There’s probably laws on the books in every city and county about this already but having a federal law will at least ensure that somebody is held accountable.

Shouldn't be difficult to link most every street/road -- and the hostage-takers only target busy highways -- in California to an Interstate highway.

In addition, give drivers who are being held hostage by the street thugs and bullies the legal right to a valid defense should they take necessary, effective action to free themselves:
"I feared for my life ... and I want an attorney."

FORGET FINES

VARIOUS NGO’s WILL PAY THE FINES.

THROW THEM INTO PRISON—MINIMUM 10 YEARS.

THEN NGO’s HAVE NO POWER.
