The only way I can see good happening is if there is some kind of aid organization (i.e., NOT USAID) that identifies the problem(s), the President concurs and ANOTHER executive agency controls and monitors money flow and efficacy. At the first sign of any problems, pull the funding immediately.

Regardless, we have no business showering funding on foreign countries when we have poverty like we do in Appalachia, et al.

Being the Times, they can’t seem to help starting off with a lie. That’s that phrase at the end of the first sentence, “... in defiance of the courts.”

President Trump has been extremely deferential to the courts, even when some district court judge issues a national TRO, far exceeding their authority, in a case they have no jurisdiction over in the first place.

But the Times did get one thing right. Tearing down USAID is a very consequential action. And one of President Trump’s best so far.
