The Dallas protest began on Monday and ended by 11 p.m. that same day. All chaos was immediately snuffed out and limited to graffiti and small fights, resulting in only one arrest as of Tuesday. No major damage to public property or criminal charges have been reported.

Want to hear a really cynical theory? The cities allow riots so that insurance companies have pay out to renovate certain areas.
Already well documented after the 1968 riots.
Crack down hard and early and it is game over.
Play “wait and see” and you will see plenty of burning, looting, and mayhem (BLM).
I think most policies have exemptions for riots , war, insurrections, etc.
but the insurance companies don’t pay for anything, that’s why insurance is such a great racket. All costs are passed on to rate payers - just like public utilities. I know you know this - just passing on the info to any DU lurkers lurking here - on account they’re pretty stupid
You’re right. It’s a round and round. Big cities are where scamming insurance companies is an art form, even to hiring people to stage vehicle accidents.

I don’t know if you the story a few weeks ago in Philadelphia about a bunch of electric busses SEPTA owns catching fire. That’s a classic there. I lived there and my dad told me it was cheaper to bribe a judge than pay a ticket.
Had the Dallas PD or the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department stood down, as their Los Angeles counterparts did, the State Police and National Guard would have taken over and suppressed any riots. Although city and county officers are supposedly nonpartisan, in fact they are Democrats. Pragmatism overrode ideology in this instance.
