3 Missing Sisters Found Dead At Campground After 'Planned Visitation' With Father: Police
HuffPost ^ | Jun 3, 2025 | Li Zhou

Three young sisters have been found dead in Washington state after a tense weekend of searching.

The sisters – Paityn Decker, 9, Evelyn Decker, 8, and Olivia Decker, 5 – failed to return from a “planned visitation” with their father on Friday, sparking a police canvass involving local detectives, federal officers and a Homeland Security helicopter in Chelan County, Washington.

Authorities found their bodies near their father’s car on Monday at 3:45 p.m. around the Rock Island State Park campground in western Washington. The girls’ father, 32-year-old Travis Decker, remains missing and is wanted on suspicion of first-degree murder and kidnapping, the Wenatchee Police Department said in a press release.

Police have determined that the likely cause of death was asphyxiation after the girls were found with plastic bags over their heads and their hands zip-tied, The New York Times reported.

Authorities have asked the public for information but cautioned people against contacting or approaching Decker due to safety concerns. Decker is a former member of the military with extensive training, and it’s not clear if he’s armed, they warned. He was described as about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, 190 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, and he was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt and dark shorts.

Decker previously served in the U.S. Army as an infantryman from 2013 to 2021, according to the Wenatchee World, and he is a member of the Army National Guard. In a 2024 court filing, the children’s mother, Whitney Decker, raised concerns about his temperament and “lack of stability.” Travis Decker was reportedly living out of his car and had exhibited emotional outbursts that frightened and distressed their daughters, she said.

If the guy is in the National Guard he does not look like this.

As a father I cannot see how a man could do this to his children. Makes me wonder if there's another explanation such as does the mom have a boyfriend?

Heartbreaking. I have granddaughters that age and without exaggeration, I would kill for them. I make sure everyone in our local circle knows that. But a madman like this guy is hard to understand at this level of depravity. Likely demon possessed.

In any truly civilized country this man would be apprehended, tried, found guilty of the three murders in the first degree and be summarily executed. And that entire process would be completed not after DECADES but in a few days following his capture.

Doesn’t need to be “understood” just apprehended and summarily executed within days of his capture.

You conclude mental illness.

The court seems not to have been persuaded of this in 2024.

This story needs more explication.

Please answer counsels’ questions honestly if or when you are called to potential jury duty in connection with this case.

The article is written to convict Travis Decker, and if he did the deed there should be a special place in hell for him.

But did he do it? Some things are not adding up, such as his photo. If he is in the National Guard he’ll be clean shaven and short hair. Where is he and why did he leave his car?

So the police should also be checking out the mom, starting with does she have a boyfriend?

How so?

Are you implying the boyfriend did it?

I had a judge yell at me because I advised my client not to allow visitation with a homeless dad because he wouldn’t provide the address of a relative where the visit would take place. The guardian ad litem told the judge that he agreed with me.

The judge didn’t care; she hollered at both of us that the court order should have been followed—but at least the kid were safe. I would stick to my advice today.
