Leftist agendaa. Is kicked in high gear. Hiding worked 40 years ago. Not today.

There. Are plenty of states with less restricted laws.

Hiding kids from The Blob (as Thomas Sowell calls them) is still doable and still worth trying to do. Again, you will get a WARNING if caught for a first offense - and if you ignore the warning, then you are toast and your kids are gone. What I had said is to do your best to not get that warning, but if you do, then GET OUT, into a Red State, if at all possible. If you choose to stay, after a warning, then you are right - your kids are gone.

If they TRACK YOU and you don’t have a valid reason to leave. In most case, they’ll be happy to be done with you.

"then GET OUT, into a Red State, if at all possible."

Actually, many of the Red States have stricter anti-homeschool laws. Of all the states, NJ is the one that has long offered complete freedom in homeschooling. A few Dems tried to pass legislation, but we fought them successfully.

HSLDA has a map of state laws right here: https://hslda.org/legal/ You can click on the map for each state. Compare NJ to Florida, for example, to see that FL laws are strict in comparison.

I oppose any and all homeschool legislation. My children are grown now, but I hope the younger families win this battle so they can continue to enjoy the same freedom we had.

True, there are exceptions...but Texas was easy in my parenting days, perhaps something has changed.

In the end, the question will be whether the state you move to will force (extradite) you back to the evil Blue State for punishment, including sending your kid into foster, or whether the new state will tell the Blue State to FO. For Texas, with Paxton running things, any Blue State will get a big Middle Finger.

UPDATE: The NJ Assembly filed ANOTHER BILL on June 16.

According to HSLDA:

Assembly Bill 5825 would require every homeschooling family to register annually and submit a curriculum that “aligns” with the state’s New Jersey Student Learning Standards to their school district. It also requires every family to submit an evaluation letter from a qualified person who has reviewed a portfolio of their student’s work certifying that “appropriate” education is occurring.

So, the first bill would require homeschoolers to report to a school official every year for a "wellness check." Now, the second bill would dictate the homeschool curriculum.

Here's a link to all the bills HSLDA is tracking, including all the NJ bills: HSLDA Legislation Center

The communists are certainly on the march in NJ...
If the peasants vote for it, what’s the issue?

If you didn’t vote for them, get out of the State...

I wrote this before, but it’s worth repeating.

Not every Blue State is a communist hellhole.

I lived in NJ for a long time, when I worked in NYC - another “commie place.”

And yes, the Republicans in Jersey are some of the most milquetoast RINOs you’ll find. Same with NYC.

At the same time, the Deplorables in NJ and NYC and NYS are some of the most patriotic and red-blooded Americans you’ll find…I’d stack them anyone from a Red State. Why? Because we know how liberty lost feels, and we fight for every crumb we get.

In addition, many of us live behind enemy lines because of family. NJ homeschooling laws are some of the best in the nation. In short, there is almost NO law. In contrast, PA is like a govt-run school. If you cherish your kids, you’ll put up with RINO nonsense so they can grow without daily curb stomping via the educational/industrial complex.

Relatedly, the reason for homeschooling does not - and should NEVER -hinge on outcomes. HSing rests on the plenary rights of parents. Even if every homeschooled kid turned out to be daft, the govt should STILL have zero right to interfere.

Yes, HS kids often excel academically. But that’s not always the case. When Mrs DoodleBob had the little ones in a HSing co-op, we saw lots of kids that were at best “average” and some that were a little slower. Not all of them grew up to become hyper-successful in college. And that’s ok.

Parents have the right to educate their children however they want, end of story. Some may choose public school. Some may choose religious schools. Some may unschool. Some may band together with other like-minded parents to educate jointly.

This may result in things we don’t like, eg kids being raised to love communism, bigotry, Antifa, hate America, and so on. Indeed, many HSers ARE ‘crunchy granola” types who believe corporatism drives public education.

I may dislike that situation. But that’s how liberty and freedom go….I’d fight for the right of some lefty parent to homeschool because, fundamentally, parental rights are not utilitarian.

Also, some of the best food is in NJ and any diners.

Sheesh, the left just doesn't want to give up control of anyone and everyone, don't they?

THanks for the ping.

Homeschooled or not, parent or not, these effing politicians need to be told in no uncertain terms to back the eff up.

The government has no business in the middle of family decisions.

I am sick to death of these effing democraps and their constant overreach. Led by the insane and power hungry while liberal females. THEY are the thing destroying every good thing.

"The communists are certainly on the march in NJ..."

They sure are...

Believe it or not, NJ has long been the best state for homeschool freedom. The Dems tried to pass these kinds of laws years ago, and we all fought them off. Now, my own kids are grown, but I hope other families can continue to enjoy the same freedom. There's nowhere for them to run, except for a handful of states far away.

LOL. True. And, when it came to fighting off legislation, all NJ HSers fought together, whether left or right, no matter what type of homeschooling. Let's hope they are successful again.

" There's nowhere for them to run, except for a handful of states far away."

Yes indeed...
All, except one, of our grandchildren and all of our great-grandchildren live in Southern Maryland...
In 1971, home schooling and private schools were what my wife and I did for our kids, once the communist judges imposed busing...
That philosophy has percolated down through the generations, as a result... Fortunately, Maryland has not quite attained the control now being enforced in NJ...

Just adding... We knew some kids who were homeschooled after something terrible happened to them in public school. They were jumped or assaulted, and school officials refused to punish the attackers. Imagine if those school officials then had power over the victims after they left school.
