Hasn’t Kīlauea been erupting continuously for decades? Not like that. And not right in the center of the national park where it can be easily viewed, at the same time posing virtually no danger to anything or anybody.

I’ve watched this on and off for a couple of months, and from the height I can tell you that some of those fountains are spewing lava over 700 feet into the air.

Yes, that’s a fact that’s not lost on me. The high viscosity of the lava, and the fact that the opening that it’s coming out of isn’t a pinhole either.
