After a marathon overnight session, House Republicans passed their multi-trillion-dollar tax breaks package, dubbed the "One Big Beautiful Bill."
The bill passed the chamber by a single vote, 215-214, with Democrats unanimously opposing and only two Republicans voting against, one of which represents Kentucky.
As expected, Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, of Kentucky's 4th District, which includes a lot of area just east of Louisville, was one of the two who broke from party.
When Massie began holding out, President Donald Trump lashed out about him, saying, "he doesn't understand government," and other various insults. Read more here.
Ohio Rep. Warren Davidson, who represents Ohio's 8th District, was the other.
So does AOC.
Their principles frequently align.
“””””Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, of Kentucky’s 4th District,”””””
Soon to be FORMER Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, of Kentucky’s 4th District,
Massie spoke on McGovern’s time. That’s turncoat behavior. If he wants to be the Maverick of the GOP, he should do it on GOP time, or keep his mouth shut on the floor of the House.
If he wants to run for McConnell’s seat, let him, he can’t be any worse. If he wants to stay in the House, primary him with James Smith (former mayor of Cynthiana and someone who will work with Trump), and make Massie work for a living.
Why is COVID Relief funding and Inflation Reduction Act massive spending still in the budget?
VOTE THESE RINOS OUT .
THEY ALWAYS SIDE WITH THE DEMOCRATS.
You don’t spend much time in Kentucky, do you. Massie isn’t going anywhere.
“The bill passed the chamber by a single vote...”
Thank God that NOVA Virginia prick croaked just in time. A tie would have killed it.😎
I have been asking this for weeks...
How many pages is this big beautiful bill?
Or, do we have to pass it to find out what is in it?
Massie should just announce he’s switching parties and be done with it. He has become a reliable vote for the Democrats on major House bills.
Just dirty republicans who expected to become multimillionaires like their predecessors and now the siphoning spigots and bribes will be shut off. They would never vote for that.
“””You don’t spend much time in Kentucky, do you. Massie isn’t going anywhere.”””
Since I don’t marry my cousins I have no reason to go there.
Newsmax just reported that Trump wants the nay voters primaried.
Nothin spells lovin like marryin yer cousin.
“””Nothin spells lovin like marryin yer cousin.”””
My buddy from Kentucky always brags about doing it with his hot teacher. ......But he was homeschooled.
Why is it these clowns only make a stand when their vote is very much needed? He’s got plenty of time to get with party leaders before there’s a vote. I guess he’s ineffective at getting things done within his own party.
It’s like Rand Paul taking a stand on tariffs. He’s been in the senate since 2001 and so far has never recommended anything regarding tariffs. China has been screwing us all these years and he’s done nothing. He’s never proposed anything but is now making a stand now that Trump is doing something to defend the America worker.
I used to like Rand Paul but I would be fine seeing his ass defeated by someone that uses common-sense.
You just proved my point
The bill is still loaded with Covid relief and a lot of Green New Deal spending. It should have been taken out before the bill was passed. It’s nothing more than a Big Beautiful overspending bill with some tax cuts added
You obviously don’t have the faintest clue what you’re talking about
The Uni party strikes again. And anyone who thinks that Trump is a fiscal conservative who’s gonna balance the budget is delusional.
“Why is COVID Relief funding and Inflation Reduction Act massive spending still in the budget?”
Isn’t the Green New Deal crap still in there?
Pork.
