I think Ukraine is considering the possibility that Trump will block financial aid to Ukraine. So if Ukraine only gets financial aid from Europe, Ukraine could switch to the Euro as the currency of choice.

It would be more accurate to say they they are planning to transition from the Hryvnia to the Euro.
Last I checked Ukraine uses the Hryvnia.
