Melania Trump is a world-class snubber. She skipped almost every event of Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign, only returning to regular political spouse duties late last year, as she had a memoir to plug and a lucrative documentary project to film. Despite suggesting she would be a full-time First Lady in Trump’s second term, she has gone unseen for weeks at a time and even skipped her stepdaughter Tiffany’s baby shower (a People source explained, savagely, that Melania “has her own schedule, even on weekends” and didn’t see “any reason” to attend).
Now Melania is getting a small taste of her own medicine: Former president George W. Bush is skipping an event she is hosting at the White House on Thursday even though it’s about his late mother. Melania is presiding over the unveiling of a postage stamp honoring former First Lady Barbara Bush, wife of former president George H.W. Bush. On Tuesday, the Washington Post reported that W. doesn’t plan to be there and didn’t even offer a plausible excuse:

Don’t forget McCain.
We held our noses and voted for him too. Or to put it more correctly - we voted against the libtards that ran against these RINO’s.
Did he have some prior commitment?
Does he have “Trump Derangement Syndrome”?
It seems quite the honor, for the White House to honor his mother with the stamp. It should be an honor, regardless of who is president, to have the White House honor his mother this way.
Perhaps Melania's idea of being a full-time first lady doesn't include worthless media appearances, but staying close to the president and supporting him. There also may be a legitimate concern of an assassination attempt on her, like one might be worried about after multiple assassination attempts on her husband.
Besides, AG Bondi is out plenty in the media. LOL
Dubya was the final straw that caused me to leave the R party. That is when I realized we have a uniparty.
and magic undies
The Bush crime family never did exhibit any class other than low class. But all criminals have that.
GWB: another worthless president.
Yet to this day there are FReepers who voted for Perot, knowing then as they do now, that was a vote for Clinton.
And due to ignorant selfish pride - they won't own up to their stupidity.
Agreed. Voted for him twice. He was the best choice by far.
Perfect? No way - but the best choice.
With that said, classless move by him.
The inverse is even more true
At one time, NY Times magazine severely hated George W. Bush, now he is admired.
1992 I was very upset at 14 years old lol
We’re always voting for what we think is the best of bad choices.
Why poke a hornet's nest?
Twice.
How many presidents or presidential candidates of recent decades, are approved of by people here?
I can only think of two — Reagan and Trump.
All others that I can think of off the top of my head — Nixon, Ford, Bush 41, Dole, Bush 43, McCain, Romney — all are not strong conservatives.
Yet this was the binary choice we faced in each of their general elections, to vote for them, sit out and in effect help the Democrat, vote 3rd party and help the Democrat, or vote for the Democrat even though we can’t stand the Democrat party and what it stands for.
Yeah, him too. And think of all the other useless wanna-bes. Jeb and Krispy Kreme come to mind.
And what’s so great about Barbara Bush that she gets her own stamp? She always seemed like a crabby old woman. Plus her husband only served one term!
And Nancy Reagan hated her
Nothing Melania has done or not done since becoming First Lady again has nothing to do with GWB so why is he snubbing the event at the WH? She didn’t go to her stepdaughter’s baby shower, so what - what’s that to him? How did it affect him? The reporter needs to come up with a logical reply to that...Isn’t he a little too old to behave so poorly?
Melania should announce, “I changed my mind - the event is OFF!” LOL
I had a libertarian friend who supported Perot in 1992.
We had many discussions as to how and when he could do this.
But in the end - he was a libertarian which is no better than a RINO or a moderate Democrat.
