A man who was using a small American flag to guide a tour group through the Smithsonian’s American History Museum was told to put away Old Glory because it might offend people.
Austin Petersen, a well-known broadcaster, was guiding a group of his fans through the museum when he was approached by a guard.
“This flag is forbidden from being displayed at the Smithsonian American History Museum because the guards said this symbol may be offensive to some who are visiting,” he wrote on X. “I was using this flag to coordinate my tour group.”

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Looks like more swamp draining is necessary at the Smithsonian.
What? They don’t display the original Star Spangled Banner anymore? It used to be revealed several times a day.
“That flag may be offensive to some people”
“May I use this rainbow flag even if it is offensive to some people?”
“Yes, of course”
Is The Smithsonian in Mother Russia?
There is no acre of the swamp that doesn’t need draining.
Get a few people to start filming. Politely ask the guard to get their supervisor and then explain to them the many reasons why you WILL NOT put away the American flag. If that fails to get the desired results demand to see the director of the museum and try again if that doesn’t work refuse and make them throw you out then sue them and make the video go viral. Such stupidity must be challenged or it will never go away v
A tour guide holds a Japanese flag to lead 20 Japanese tourists in The Smithsonian. The museum guard will tell him to put the flag away? Does he even know what a Japanese flag looks like?
So, the guard had his marching orders...For what, the good of the Museum’s bottom line?
Smithsonian used to have a big display of the Stars and Stripes from the Baltimore Fort attacked during the War of 1812.
A quilting group I attended AT A CHURCH for a short time makes charity quilts for kids at the Children’s Hospital. At Christmas time we were told the quilts had to be generic holiday/Christmas quilts — no religious themes. (Imagine: Baby Jesus at Christmas!) Some of sick children and their parents might be offended. We were told that was a hospital rule.
I never went back.
Heaven forbid a DYING Muslim child might be exposed to Christianity.
Besides, they choose the quilts they want. Kids aren’t forced to take one they don’t want.
So a church group can’t make religious items, and a tax-funded American organization prohibits American flags. Sheesh.
Shame this guard and his boss live 2800 miles away. I’m thinking they would be offended by my fist 👊
“a tax-funded American organization prohibits American flags”
If this incident has legs and the right people hear about it I suspect the “find out” potion of the equation is about to hit the Smithsonian.
Proper response to the guard: “Well, it offends a lot of people when they see you telling me to hide the American flag - so maybe you shouldn’t be allowed here either.”
There’s a DEI reporting number. This needs to be reported.
Smithsonian guards are Black

Its a swamp that should have been drained right after it opened, and its founder and curators imprisoned for the damage they have done to America’s past. Its magazine continues to print distorted and incomplete articles that are just plain lies sometimes.
