The governor's race in Virginia to replace term-limited Glenn Youngkin is on, and the two nominees are already swinging heavy timber at each other.
The Republican candidate is none other than Virginia's electrifying, battle-tested, and uber-competent Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears.

To be honest, there was a bit of a bumpy spot in the relationship between VA Trump supporters and Sears because of her feelings a few years ago, but those all seem to have been smoothed over. ...
...She said her opinion changed after hearing his speech at the Republican National Convention last summer.
“I wanted to hear that he has changed,” she said Wednesday, describing her thought process ahead of the convention. “I just wanted to hear, on a moral level, that that’s what I was looking for as a Christian. I wanted to hear that from a moral standpoint. And then I heard it. I heard him say, after he was shot, ‘God has saved my life, and he has saved my life for a purpose, and I am going to live for him. And I humbly ask for your vote.’ I was like, ‘yes, he’s back.’ And so after that, we were good.”
The Lt. Gov has since been vocal in her support for the administration, even as DOGE cuts work to her opponent's advantage in those big blue circles around the D.C. metro area.

I am glad President Trump has said many things he has said, but my vote for him absolutely wouldn’t depend on whether or not I think he is “a Christian.”

I’m not so sure of that. Spanberger will win Northern Virginia, but not by much, as people around here are getting tired of the Dims for high taxes, illegals, and tolerating criminals, and the south-east Dim strongholds will likely vote for Sears because Spanberger isn’t well-known there and Sears is Black and former military. Youngkin is pretty popular, and even the useless VAGOPe are at least trying a little.
Sears’ biggest problem will be out of state funding for Spanberger.
Nature abhors a vacuum.
