The funny thing is, if they go full Hillsdale route it would probably be the best thing to ever happen to them. It would give them an excuse to eliminate useless departments and focus on serious study, even in the humanities (if they still exist). They got a solid endowment, and they have a brand name. What they do with it is up to them.

Trump already raised the question: Why does the US government give grants to Harvard at all?

Harvard’s endowment is huge and can easily pay the cost of all those grants.

So, IMHO if Harvard insists on opposing the Trump administration, it could simply cancel every single Federal grant they give to Harvard. It is a losing battle.
