House GOP tees up final vote on budget blueprint as conservative opposition hardens

House Republicans on Wednesday advanced the Senate’s blueprint to enact key parts of President Trump’s legislative agenda, teeing up the measure for a final vote — even as its fate hangs in the balance amid conservative opposition.

The chamber voted 216-215 along party lines to adopt the rule, which governs debate for legislation, the last step before the entire House weighs in on whether to adopt the measure. Three Republicans voted with all Democrats against adopting the rule. A final vote is slated for around 5:30 p.m.

Three Republicans voted with all Democrats against adopting the rule: Reps. Thomas Massie (Ky.), Victoria Spartz (Ind.) and Mike Turner (Ohio).

Turner said he will be a “yes” on the budget resolution on passage, but he was opposed to procedural language in the rule that turns off the ability to force a vote on repealing Trump’s “liberation day” tariffs for 90 days.

It's a shame that the GOP and conservatives aren't one in the same.

If I may suggest

Massie is an idiot savant.

Adding "savant" shows he has some ability to function, some times even is a single talented way

Too bad MAGA GOP and Conservative cannot unite on this. Go with the Buckley principal. I paraphrase: Vote for the most conservative/MAGA/GOP bill that can pass.

They can get what they want and more via reconciliation but only if this bill passes.

Massie’s equations never seem to factor in the growth component — to him, it’s a game of starvation alone

I owe you folks a sincere apology.
Via a multitude of replies I have called out frivolous spending championed by Trump & Co and them demanding more money though trillions have been exposed as waste and now I see, I need to join ya’ll in praising Trump for his brilliance! Show beyond a shadow of a doubt that not nearly as much is needed YET, demand MORE!!!
He has the vision to outspend everyone in history, make money even more worthless, saddle generations with debt, and have red-blooded Americans spew hate at each other for the slightest indifference.
I have to join the gang or I will be cast aside and deemed a Liberal, Democrat, Harris/Biden supporter, or worse.
But if this $100 trillion+ debacle really does collapse on the next generation(s), I have friends now.

On April 2, 2025, Fine was sworn into office by House speaker Mike Johnson.

I assume they both are sworn in now

Sadly, the GOP is not conservative. The fiscal spending is totally out of control without guard rails. The bill being proposed increases spending more than Biden did last year.

No conservatism in the budget.

One thing Rand Paul gets right is the need to put government on a tight fiscal leash.

The debt limit could be increased by $1 trillion per bill to give Trump four more opportunities to get the reforms he needs.

I don’t want Democrats to have nearly two years of unconstrained filibuster option obstruction.

Is this an actual budget or is this an Obamunist continuing resolution?
