“I appreciate what the President is doing on tariffs...Australia has sold $29 billion worth of beef in the United States, and we haven't been able to sell one hamburger in Australia because of barriers…you look at these numbers, and the ranchers..."

The Australians probably don’t allow all the drugs and chemicals that Americans put into their animals

I worked for a packing house in the 1980s and we bought Australian beef that we added to utility beef (bulls, dairy cows etc.) for grinding. Came out later that the Aussies were shipping kangaroo meat.

No,it’s actually wombat...mislabeled.

Lots of beef comes from Brazil and Argentina. I think Walmart imports a ton of beef. The meat packers are controlled by about three companies. Two of them are owned by foreign companies. Tyson needs to face anti-trust suit by DOJ for what they did in poultry and hog market. Our beef farmers have been getting stiffed for a long time.

Importing beef to the USA would be like exporting oil to Saudi Arabia. It just doesn’t make sense.

After Australia received mad cow contaminated beef from Canada in 2003, they banned all fresh beef imports into Australia. We haven’t sold beef there for 20 years due to the Aussie line that it could be contaminated. This was covered in an interview Scott Bessent did with Tucker Carlson last week.

It's basically a US$ spigot for Australian ranchers.

Incredible all the non sensical shenanigans they make with internatinal trade. I would bet makes not 1 cent of difference to the end consumer.

I do believe that we’re going to be importing a lot of beef in the near future just because the low inventory we have in the United States. With tariffs though the United States continues to make income and then when the cattle herd is built up again USB will be cheaper for Americans to buy then imported beef.

Not true. 10% of beef consumed in the US is imported.
