I have never been fired. However, the one time when my boss called me in to reassign company assets(it was going to affect my compensation) was at 4:45 on a Friday.

That is because the journalists working in the DC bureau are neighbors/friends with these people. It is why CNN was screaming about the three National Security guys that got axed yesterday. One or all of them were ALLEDGEDLY leakers to the press.

The only people(that I care about) that this government staffing reduction is bad news for is the home builders in Northern VA/southern MD. This area of the country has been virtually recession proof FOREVER. Every time the government grew, they built more houses in the country of VA. Even during the GREAT RECESSION it did not contract. It grew.

I remember visiting my brother when he first moved to DC after graduating college. He went to work for the VA right on WI Ave. He rented in Falls Church, VA. He took me out to Tyson’s Corner and eventually out to Dullas Airport. There was a whole lot of nothing between back then in the 1908s.

I revisited that area about five years ago. Drove from Dullas out to Aldie/Middleburg, VA. It is one big housing development now. All those country farms/estates had been turned into subdivisions. Tyson’s Corner is part of the city now.

The Federal Government and all the LEECHES that live off of it have grown much faster than the rest of the economy the last thirty years. BRING THE PAIN. Tell them to get a real job in the private sector.
