A group of state workers protested over the weekend, outside the Governor’s residence in St. Paul, after a new policy was announced requiring employees to be back in the office more often.
“They are mad — we’ve been doing our work from home for the last five years during the pandemic, and we’re more productive at home, “said Megan Dayton, president of the Minnesota Association of Professional Employees. “We don’t understand why this is happening.”
Last week, Governor Tim Walz announced the policy change that will require most Minnesota state agency employees to work in-person for at least 50% of scheduled work days starting on June 1.

Maybe Walz got a clue, and it is not a good look, with state employees working from home, while non-state employees have to phyically show up for their jobs.
Have no problem having private company employees working from home at least they are productive or they would be gone.
Flame away.
Work at home is the scam that keeps on giving...
Deadbeats, that is, the ability to continue to grift on the taxpayers dime...
we’re more productive at home,“
Well that’s BS.
If they don’t understand what’s happening, they are morons and need to be fired immediately. Think about saying something that arrogant to the people who pay your salary to watch “The View” on the sofa and chat on line with like minds for $95K per year!
Oh the horror, this is inhumane.

Trump RTO = Bad!
Walz RTO = Good!
Did they burn any tires on his lawn.
These folks know full well they're going to get blasted when they can't deliver the same level of performance because they're dealing with nonsense and babysitting in the office.
Lazy pieces of work can just be let go and fend for themselves.
I swear, the entitlement mentality that has infected this country is unbelievable.
“Well that’s BS.”
Couldn’t agree more. I worked in IT before I retired. We had gone to full on work from home. At first, it wasn’t bad, and I was reasonably productive. As time went on, you feel less connected, and more likely to give in to distraction.
I’m a reasonably self disciplined person. Those with less discipline probably bought “mouse jigglers”.
How will they go to their second jobs if they can’t grift on the first job?
Once you knew this, life became easy for many, and career ending for others. All you had to do was be reliable, on time, stay out of bars, be where you say you are, be polite with the public, respectful of the company and its property, and they loved you! You didn't even have to be particularly good at your job! I think it was my most fun job ever!
Richard Simmons wanna be tampon timmy.
I swear, the entitlement mentality that has infected this country is unbelievable.
Doge would have a field day in Minnesota.
Point being, using proper analytics, the work from home bunch would very easily get fired with cause. Walking the dog? Going shopping?
Yet they are not. The fraud is real and they even make tic tok videoes bragging about it.
I have seen it with some people I know myself.
Work at home for government employees = scam
Proxy voting by congress = also scam
Encouraging to know that the Minnesota state bureaucrats 'went Pro'. (sarcasm)
Governor Wind-sock should know that he's not dealing with amateurs.
My daughter’s job entails a great deal of air travel, but when not traveling she works from home, which was a stipulation of hers, before taking the job, as she also has a 12 year old child she shares custody with her ex husband. She is highly productive and makes billions for the company for which she works. Being an overachiever, she also has a small company of her own, plus does consulting as a third endeavor. Neither of her alternative income sources are in competition with her main job. Some people can work from home and get their work done, and some can’t.
