Florida state Sen. Randy Fine (R) was projected to win the special election for Florida’s 6th Congressional District on Tuesday, according to Decision Desk HQ, defeating Democrat Josh Weil in what became a closely contested race in the deep-red district.
Fine’s win will come as a relief for Republicans, who grew increasingly worried about the race as Weil overperformed Fine in fundraising and some polling going into Election Day.
A Democratic victory in the district, which stretches from South Daytona to St. Augustine, would have been a political earthquake. President Trump and national security adviser Michael Waltz, who previously held the seat, each won the district by over 30 points in November. Gov. Ron DeSantis

Republicans dominate election day turnout in Florida

Republicans are dominating Election Day turnout in the pair of special congressional races taking place in Florida’s 1st and 6th congressional districts.
According to data from The Hill’s partners at Decision Desk HQ, Election Day turnout from Republicans in the 1st Congressional District is at R+25.9 percent while in the 6th Congressional District it is at R+18.56 percent.
The data is a promising sign for Republicans, particularly in Florida’s 6th District. Democrat Josh Weil has outperformed Republican Randy Fine in fundraising and some polls showed a tight race.
Both seats are considered safe Republican seats, with President Trump winning them by over 30 points in November.

DOGE will move into the now emptied Institute of Peace building.
In DC this is like an urban war. We are taking over Washington DC one building at a time.
There were some nervous nellies worried about Fine.
They were wrong—as usual.
But wait. So many knee jerk, whoa is me, Freepers TOLD US this was too close. Trump should never pick House members for cabinet positions. The Dems were pouring money into the district.
It’s over. Trump is a lame duck.
OH NOES!
BLAH BLAH BLAH.
Expected to win this one. Expected to lose SC Justice race in WI.
NEVER in any doubt its a safe +20 district but he’s not well liked..Honestly dont care, he has an R next to his name so glad that he won..now the race for Gaetz’s old seat no one’s talking about that race but I assume its the panhandle so its an easy peasy win
This news will surely disappoint many FReepers.
Newsweek from this morning:
“Republican Florida state Senator Randy Fine is at risk of losing Tuesday’s special election, despite the Sunshine State’s 6th Congressional District being heavily GOP friendly, according to recent polls.
One survey has Fine’s lead over Democrat Josh Weil within the margin of error, while an internal Republican poll shows the state senator trailing his opponent.”

Do the election results indicate the reliability of Newsweek’s news?

Republicans are pulling out all the stops ahead of the special election in Florida's 6th Congressional District as worries of a narrower-than-expected margin grow in the district President Trump won by more than 30 points in November.
Trump called into two tele-town halls for state Sen. Randy Fine (R) in an effort to drive out the Republican base ahead of Tuesday. Meanwhile, Elon Musk's America PAC spent roughly $10,200 in the race earlier this week and dropped another $66,000 into the race on Thursday.
The efforts come as Democratic candidate Josh Weil has outraised Fine, while an internal poll from the Republican firm Fabrizio Ward showed Weil holding a 3 point lead over Fine.”
Do the election results indicate the reliability of Newsweek’s news?
Well, many refer to the publication as “Newsweak” and given their reporting on the FLA 6 special election, I say it is a good indicator as to whether or not they can be trusted.
You are welcome ... I live in FL-06 and voted for Randy this morning. My wife in the afternoon.
This thread said nothing about and had nothing to do with WI.
Both elections are being held today.
