Since its founding two years ago, xAI has rapidly become one of the leading AI labs in the world, building models and data centers at unprecedented speed and scale.
X is the digital town square where more than 600M active users go to find the real-time source of ground truth and, in the last two years, has been transformed into one of the most efficient companies in the world, positioning it to deliver scalable future growth.
xAI and X’s futures are intertwined. Today, we officially take the step to combine the data, models, compute, distribution and talent. This combination will unlock immense potential by blending xAI’s advanced AI capability and expertise with X’s massive reach. The combined company will deliver smarter, more meaningful experiences to billions of people while staying true to our core mission of seeking truth and advancing knowledge. This will allow us to build a platform that doesn’t just reflect the world but actively accelerates human progress.
I would like to recognize the hardcore dedication of everyone at xAI and X that has brought us to this point. This is just the beginning.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Elon is sole owner now....
.
,
Is that what this means? I was about to ask “Who’s On First?”
Yep , just heard it discussed on the radio........
.
If Musk already owns both of these companies, how is it that one aquired the other?
Nope.
Ownership is a different thing than the business entities themselves.
Elon only owned 50% of xAI and 80% of X, so clearly he won't be the sole owner of the combined company. He will hold a solid majority stake, possibly around 65%, and probably even a larger share of voting rights. He owns about 42% of SpaceX, but controls 80% of the votes.
StarLink doubled its 2023 revenue in 2024 ($8 Billion). It is, or soon could, fund a lot of SpaceX work. That said, savvy investors have also invested billions because, well, it’s a good investment.
Just like President Trump, Musk makes money the old fashioned way, he EARNS IT!
Thank you for the info.
Acquired?
Merged.
He simply merged the in-corporations. And from what I saw of GROK 2, it was very good on some subjects. Musk has the best AI that I have seen, and the money spent by the “big Guys” was Huge. He did it very quickly and very cheap. We must respect him for that.
I am not a fan of AI, for this reason, it will never be the Truth. Man is not that smart.
AI at this point is not “the solution”. The Truth, is.
I’ve found I’ve made a paradigm shift in my head. When I haven’t the slightest idea on something, I now go to google and ask, knowing I’ll get an AI answer back. With reasonable skepticism of the response, I’ve become dependent on having instant answers to anything that even mildly interests me.
If only my mother had lived long enough to see this.
I have tested some events that my father experienced during WWII and asked Grok 2 about two details that happened in a couple of things my father took part in in person. The detail that returned said that evidence of what my father saw actually happened. (un written history is still real)
So, my conclusion, no matter how refined AI is, it is a method of distorting a Lie to be believable.
I have seen recent AI speeches by people who are well known that you could not tell the fake was not done by the real person. DANGER WILL ROBINSON! DANGER!
Joe Biden’s primary Nomination Acceptance speech was not done by Biden and it was recorded. There is not doubt, and they have tried to scrub some versions. I also noted that depending upon which browser I used it would not display, but other browsers alowed it from the same sight.

Joe Biden’s speech?

If you can view it, it is not Joe Biden. One version has a cut skip several times and backup and loop again.
I'm waiting to see if Tesla stockholders someday receive shares of StarLink and SpaceX. Lots of Tesla facilities and engineers were shared in work at SpaceX and StarLink. Both currently privately held but may someday have a public offering. Tesla stockholders should get shares in any offering. I'm a longtime stockholder, and will smile if it happens.
Is this better known as GROK?
Your examples are good ones of where to be extra skeptical. I use it for simpler things like how much protein in an egg bagel; or, when reading about King Charles having side effects from his cancer treatment, asking about cancer treatment side effects.
It’s just that in the past when I was curious about something, I’d more than likely let it drop and forget about my question. Now, I immediately ask as specifically as I can.
Danger Will Robinson!
Clever.
I like Grok, but it makes simple mistakes. I mentioned Brenda Lee being in the Rock Hall and Grok said she wasn’t until I said, “Check Wikipedia.” If it can make basic search goofs like that, how can I trust it with the required gap for my spark plugs?
I reload a lot of calibers. Whoever wrote the reloading portion in GROK2 knew what he was talking about.
BUT, there is no room for errors when reloading ammo. Have been doing it for shot shells since childhood. Reloading brass cartridge ammo came later. Careful, patient and precise set up with knowledge of each cartridge you load. I would never trust AI for that.
I have seen what Google knows about reloading. I saw one of their sites who was discussing the difference in .38 special and .357 magnum load. The idiots tried to tell people that the diameter of the bullet and brass is different. It is NOT, both are .357 diameter, but the case length is different.
But for all practical purposes in the right pistol you can safely load close to starting .357 magnum pressures in a .38 special case. But NEVER DO that, from fear of someone blowing up a weaker .38 special pistol if they rely on the caliber marked on end of the brass.
I would never fire that in anything not marked correctly. (my .357 has a case hardened frame)
