FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky's Republican lawmakers have passed a measure to protect conversion therapy for LGBTQ+ youths as part of a bill that also would outlaw the use of Medicaid funds to pay for gender-affirming health care for transgender Kentucky residents.

The House vote occurred late Friday, less than an hour before the midnight deadline for the GOP-supermajority legislature to pass bills and retain its ability to override gubernatorial vetoes. The bill passed after the Senate version that prohibited the use of Medicaid was accepted by the House.

Sanity seems to be slowing creeping back into parts of this country.

It used to be the reparative therapy banners who were always on the offensive. Now, sexual sanity seems to have the upper hand.

Does this mean they can still operate on kids [conversion therapy] but can’t bill Medicaid? Not sure what conversion therapy is all about.

Then why did they pass the bill? I doubt that there was a huge statewide demand for this bill.

Somewhat oversimplified….the Conversion therapy is this bill is a reparative therapy ….talk therapy for individuals who do not want to give in to their attractions to same sex individuals.

Of course he will. A rat governor cannot commit blasphemy by violating one of their high holy doctrines.

On the issue of a rat governor, how does a state with a super-majority Republican legislature elect a rat for governor? Sounds fishy to me.

Veto is what the republicans want Andy to do.

Where do you get that? A veto is what they fully expect Andy to do, but they have a veto-proof majority. EVen if they want to hide behind the appearance of doing something conservative for their base but where thwarted from doing it by a Democrat, their majority status takes that out of the picture, making them fully culpable.

Then why did they pass the bill? I doubt that there was a huge statewide demand for this bill.

Neither are there ever state-wide demands for enacting so-called "conversion" therapy bans. Yet, well-heeled gay activists funded by George Soros and other ultra-wealthy queers put pressure on state legislatures to pass these stupid bans for 0.0001% of the population. Completely unnecessary and doesn't prevent anything that they purport to prevent.

The impetus of this bill came from a recent executive order signed by Beshear which banned state or federal funds being used for the type of reparative therapies despised by the gay lobby. The current Republican bill was essentially forced to counteract this EO.

I’m all for the bill but l will be surprised if they can overcome the rat veto. Hopefully KY has learned their lesson about letting a rat slide in as Governor.
