How WOULD Keir Starmer's 'coalition of the willing' enforce a peace deal in Ukraine? European troops on the ground and RAF planes in the skies could stop Russia breaking a ceasefire

Sir Keir Starmer has declared a 'coalition of the willing' is ready to enforce a peace deal in Ukraine and help deter future Russian attacks.

The Prime Minister this weekend said those countries signed up to his peacekeeping blueprint would 'intensify' their planning 'with real urgency'.

He added he was ready to commit British 'boots on the ground and planes in the air' as he called on Europe to 'do the heavy lifting' in support of Kyiv.

It follows suggestions that UK troops could form part of a 30,000-strong European peacekeeping force within Ukraine.

RAF Typhoons might also be deployed to help patrol Ukrainian skies, while Royal Navy ships could be sent to the Black Sea to deter another Russian assault.

The frantic rush to develop a peackeeping plan comes amid fears that US President Donald Trump is poised to abandon both Europe and Ukraine.

His administration has told European nations to shoulder greater responsibility for both their own and Ukraine's security.

Mr Trump's stance has prompted speculation that France might deploy nuclear-armed fighter jets to Germany to widen Europe's nuclear shield.

And, despite calls for a US 'backstop' for a peace deal, it has been suggested that American security guarantees might only take the form of a minerals deal with Kyiv.

The UK and France are taking the lead in drafting the peacekeeping plans, but there are doubts over the role that other countries - such as Italy and Poland - might play.

So, as the scramble to draw up a blueprint continues, here's how a peacekeeping plan is shaping up so far...

All of them together would still not add up to what we were paying, and how long could they keep it up before their generous welfare states went bankrupt propping up Ukraine?

Just so long as the USA is all out. ... Permanently.

I doubt that happen because Russia has already threatened to use nuclear weapons if European or NATO military forces arrive in Ukraine. And if they use their tactical nukes I wouldn't be surprised if they used their Stategic nukes and some/many would get through to the U.S.

If they are stupid enough to push Putin then they can get nuked without American aid.

The trouble is, I would expect the U.S. to be nuked as well if the Europeans are nuked in Ukraine.

article sounds to me like a lot of woulda, coulda, shoulda, mighta, maybe, and this or that ...

IOW, a lot of “plans” being slap-dashed together in an extreme hurry ...

no real surprise though, since western europe didn’t believe that the Trump administration might jerk the rug out from under them, and therefore were caught completely by surprise when it actually happened ... \

western europe probably still can’t believe that ANY politician would actually do what they REPEATEDLY promised the voters that they would do, since no politicians for generations anywhere on the planet had actually done that ...

What I want to know about is UKs mineral deal with Zelenski....

Yeah, they will probably come up with one then celebrate what a good example of "think outside the box" idea it is.

It's really sad and infuriating to me that they'd rather let the killing continue than to give credit to Donald Trump for stopping it.

Could or they could provoke a shooting war

But what ever Europe. 1945 was 80 years ago. 500,000,000 Europeans do not need 330,000,000 Americans to protect them from 140,000,000 Russians any more.

This is all talk and posturing from the likes of Starmer and Macron. Nobody in Europe is ready to foot the bills, both economically and militarily, to support Ukraine. Europe still needs America to be the buffer between them and Russia, and as you pointed out they are still heavily dependent on Russia’s oil and natural gas.

In the end they’ll convince Little Z The Grifter to go back to Trump and take the minerals deal. Starmer talks tough, but the British government and military are in no position to help Ukraine themselves, and neither are their other European allies.

The alleged “coalition of the willing” are unable to produce the necessary material.

I don’t think so. Walk away. Be clear that we are no longer affiliated. That we are going to stay in our own hemisphere.

Europe is dying. There is nothing we can do there. We need to save ourselves.

Britain . . . They barely have a navy

That makes me a little sad. England without a navy is like Germany without sausage.

Britain could also send Hogwarts students on Hippogriffs to patrol the skies and enforce the peace.
