ChiCom leader Xi Jinping might be confused by all this. Permit to explain, Mr. Xi.

It’s really pretty simple; if you place a tariff on your stuff, we place a tariff on yours.

China nor Europe has any capacity to suck up the market share Mexico and Canada lose if the US Market is closed to them. If it weren’t for the childish antics of their Alt Leftist political parties the adults in Canada and Mexico would sit down and quietly cut a deal that benefited everyone.

Their own jingoistic politicians in Mexico and Canada are to blame. The would not take the carrot so now they get the stick.

They (Canada and Mexico) are in a no win position. Make a deal, or suffer.

BUT, Scheinbaum wants to appear strong and as if she’s standing up to the orange man. It’s all posturing for her own people and media, and they are to stupid to realize that they will pay the price for it.

Mexico is dependent on money from the US may that be tourism, expats sending money home, US manufacturing in Mexico that can come back to the US, or goods and services they rely on in Mexico that come from the US. (((They need us, we don’t need them.)))

Conversely, if Mexico were wiped off the map, while it would be sad not to be able to go to Cancoon for vacation, it’s not going to impact folks that much (many substitutions). There are no resources or products and services from Mexico that if missing will cripple us economically or in defense.

Trumps goal is “True Fair and Free Trade.” His tariffs are just the hammer to make this happen. He really does not want to do this but will if necessary to achieve this. His China and Mexico policy are slightly different. He does want Free and Fair Trade with both. However, both due to policy and corruption in Mexico are the major route of Fentanyl into the United States that kills about 100 thousand people a year. If those two nations do establish free and fair trade the tarrifs will stay on until they cooperate with stopping the flow of Fentanyl. Mexico will be easy. We can destroy their economy easily. China will be more difficult. The flow of Fentanyl to us is part of their policy.
