“Executive branch reconstitution is the collective reconstitution of the EOP (Emergency Operations Plan-The EOP establishes an emergency organization and defines responsibilities for all staff and individuals (public and private) having roles in the phases of emergency management to include prevention, protection, mitigation, response, recovery in the local government.)and executive D/As working in collaboration with the EBR Cell( Executive Branch Reconstitution Cell, is a FEMA-led initiative that facilitates the reconstitution of the executive branch in the event of a national emergency, with members from FEMA, GSA, OPM, and NARA providing assistance and support.). If reconstitution is not possible in the Washington, D.C. area, Congress, in accordance with its enumerated powers, will work with the states to establish a new seat of government. Once the new seat of government is identified, the construction and/or procurement of appropriate facilities to house executive D/As begins. This originated with an executive order from President Kennedy in 1961 where he and the NSC explored the reconstitution of the federal government in the event of a Soviet surgical nuclear decapitation strike on the District of Columbia.

The reconstitution of the rest of American governance originated with an executive order from President Eisenhower's second term.

Both EOs have been kept updated with a role for FEMA written into the updated EOs. The rally point for the federal government is either Offutt AFB near Omaha or Cheyenne Mountain, depending on just how bad the damage is to the country and its government.

At least we got the decimal numeration for our money instead of the ridiculous British pound, shilling, etc. it is too bad the founders didn’t choose the metric system instead of the British system for weights and measures. I think we are the only country other than a few small islands that does not use the metric system today

The mint was located in Philadelphia in 1792, which was the seat of government at the time. When the seat of government was moved to Washington City in the District of Columbia, the mint remained in Philly, where it sits today on Independence Mall.

Branches were established in Charlotte (NC) and Dahlonega (GA) when gold was found on Cherokee land. (This would lead to the Trail of Tears.)

Branches were also established in San Francisco (gold), Carson City (silver), and one was established in New Orleans.

Today a branch exists on the ground of the military academy at West Point for the minting of bullion coins.

Thank you so much for giving more clarity and information on Presidents...I think all the rumors about Eisenhower not liking Kennedy and how ugly his wife was not offering a wheelchair for Jackie who had recently had a baby..while they came to visit the White House before moving in...was ALL garbage. I look back then and think the DS wanted Kennedy to have nothing of Eisenhower's genius mind and worries of what's coming of many things aren't STOPPED! (my dad lived and breathed Democrat)
