Spain's former football federation boss Luis Rubiales has been found guilty of kissing player Jenni Hermoso without her consent and ordered to pay a fine of more than €10,000 (£8,275), Spain's High Court has ruled.
He has been acquitted of coercion, Spanish and international media report.
As Spain's players received their medals after defeating England in Sydney to win the 2023 World Cup, Rubiales grabbed Hermoso by the head and kissed her on the lips.
The incident triggered protests and calls for Rubiales's resignation.
Prosecutors had demanded a prison sentence for Rubiales, who last week told a court he was "absolutely sure" Hermoso had given her consent before he kissed her.
He described the kiss as an "act of affection", adding that in the moment it was "something completely spontaneous".

In Spain it is common to see young women friends holding hands as they walk down the street, totally non-romantic. Also, men will often be hugging each other. It’s the nature of the culture.
He got overcharged. Must have been like kissing Trevor Lawrence.
Boy, that sailor who kissed the nurse in NYC after WWII was over really lucked out.
Guy must be into tattoos. She has lots of them. Both arms full.
Spainsh soccer is passionate. My guess it was not sexual, she is kind-of not guilty but as spainish women go she is not the one I would have picked to celebrate with a kiss.
I remember the incident vaguely I think it was spontaneous
Lesbianism is the tip of an iceberg. He crossed some kind of line on the matrix.
I believe his explanation he should have been acquitted
They wanted a prison sentence... !
She was #10 (the best player/quaterback) it was symbolic.
That’s what happens when you kiss a lesbian. To them a guy’s lips are poison.
If his horse had just won a race for him, he probably would have kissed it, too.
No children.
Expla8ns a lot.
“Jenni Hermoso, 33, opens up about growing up gay in Spain: Women’s World Cup champion says it was a ‘taboo’ to be a lesbian”
So Me Too is finally coming to the Latin world. That’s going to be interesting.
Her husband has a vagina
I have posted on this before because I seem to be in the extreme minority here on this (which I am actually surprised by).
1. It wasn’t mutual. It wasn’t cultural. It was inappropriate. It would be like Roger Goodell grabbing Patrick Mahomes by the head and forcefully kissing him after he won the Super Bowl. No way that would be ok ever.
2. Afterward, he knew he messed up and used his position/power to try to force to make a video exonerating him. Not cool. Especially if he did nothing wrong.
3. Rather than apologize, he used his position & power to intimidate her and her family to try to get her to issue statements and videos to clear him. They threatened her with never playing soccer for Spain again if she did not.
4. He has a history of being crude in public with women. Including in front of Spains Royalty ( Princess).
5. For everyone that thinks it is no big deal, just for a second imagine it was your wife or daughter standing on the biggest stage of her life winning the highest honor she could achieve and having someone whom she would find sexually offensive doing so, forcefully kissing her against her will in front of millions of people. Then, instead of apologies she has the best of her career threatened unless she takes the fall for it all. IMO, if you are really ok with that, there is something wrong with you.
Yes and it is overblown beyond belief. At worst, he should have gotten a small fine and suspension, but they went with sexual assault and blew it up beyond all belief.
The girl later came out as a lesbian, so enter that into the mix and a complaint media pushing a message and you have a 2 year long $hitshow!
It was also very common in Viet Nam. (1970-71) Don’t know if it still is.
To be fair, he’s a Spaniard.
Look into the history of Spain. Lots of coercion there.
