Why tension between the Trump administration and Catholic Church is ratcheting up

Pope Francis criticized President Donald Trump and his administration on Tuesday in a letter to U.S. Catholic bishops about mass deportation.

The pope wrote that while governments have a right to defend themselves, they should not turn a blind eye to men, women and families who need help.

“The act of deporting people who in many cases have left their own land for reasons of extreme poverty, insecurity, exploitation, persecution or serious deterioration of the environment, damages the dignity of many men and women, and of entire families, and places them in a state of particular vulnerability and defenselessness,” Francis wrote.

His letter includes a warning for administration officials: “What is built on the basis of force, and not on the truth about the equal dignity of every human being, begins badly and will end badly,” he wrote.

As of Wednesday morning, Trump had not responded to the pope’s letter.

His border czar, Tom Homan, criticized the pope’s comments in a Tuesday interview on Fox News.

“I’ve got harsh words for the pope: I say this as a lifelong Catholic. He ought to focus on his work and leave enforcement to us. He’s got a wall around the Vatican, does he not?” Homan said, per CBS News.

I’m Catholic.

I couldn’t give a.....fig.

I had to use some word that started with an f!! :)

Religions are headed by humans.

Why do so many think otherwise?

Why do ANY Christians worry about so much more than what the Bible teaches?

Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s...a safe border and the protection of the state’s REAL citizens.

Give to God what is God’s...there’s a LOT of ways to help folks in other countries..heck, you can go there and do it if you want.

Or you can donate, or you can aid a LOT of AMERICANS who are in need.

The Bible. Not human leaders. That’s the best to follow.

"...governments have a right to defend themselves, they should not turn a blind eye to men, women and families who need help."

It's a world of limited resources and we are flat broke. We need to CUT CUT CUT spending, not add more to take care of the world, if we want the Republic to survive.

When Biden was inaugurated, the public debt was $28 trillion. Today, just four years later, it exceeds $36 trillion. We incurred EIGHT TRILLION of new debt in four years. Our INTEREST expense is greater than our DEFENSE expense. This is beyond absurd.

Let's concentrate our compassion on our own citizens first. After that project is completed we can think about helping save the world.

Homan's response is perfect!

“Why tension between the Trump administration and Catholic Church is ratcheting up”

Because the pope is a Marxist atheist.

Yet the Vatican has a wall around it and doesn’t allow people to stay without a visa.

“Do as we say, not as we do”

The Pope also has a very palatial country estate outside the Vatican at Castel Gandolfo - why doesn’t he give the castle and the grounds up for housing for about 5000 of these illegal aliens?

Trump as President is the greatest friend Catholics have ever had, far above Catholics like Kennedy and Biden. If you consider Biden a Catholic.

Pope Francis should confine himself to theology. When was the last time he spoke about saving souls?

The bishops, they are another story. Overwhelmingly liberal in thought and democrat in politics, they conveniently forget that the mortal sin of abortion is a democrat platform, and that American law and its Constitution is what has allowed the Catholic Church to prosper in America, those same laws they want to ignore in their defense of law-breaking illegal immigration to make up for the 75% of Catholics who no longer attend Sunday Mass because of the liberation theology they must sit through.

The Pope’s focus should be on bringing people to Christ. He seems focused on worldly things instead of spiritual things.

The Church has been meddling in politics for about 1700 years now.
