The Trump administration is moving rapidly to gut the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), halting the agency’s work, cutting off its funding and shutting down its headquarters.
The push is not unlike the effort launched in the early years of President Trump’s first term to defang the agency, which has faced staunch opposition from Republicans throughout its brief existence.
However, as Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) sweeps into one agency after another with the directive to slash wide swaths of government funding, the new assault on the CFPB has sparked concerns from consumer advocacy groups and Democratic lawmakers about just how far the administration will go this time.
“I think everyone assumes this is the USAID playbook, and I think everyone’s operating off of the assumption that we’re about to get annihilated, the way that they were annihilated,” a CFPB employee told The Hill, referring to the U.S. Agency for International Development.
The moves at the CFPB have drawn parallels with USAID, where staff were also told to stay out of headquarters and cease work before the Trump administration attempted to place thousands of employees on administrative leave. The effort was put on hold by a federal judge Friday night.

I was at the USAF JAG Corps Keystone Conference when this thing was first introduced. Some general’s wife was a mucky muck at the agency and spent 45 minutes telling us what a marvelous protection mechanism this would be for all those poor stupid sergeants’ wives who can’t control their credit cards. It was sheer arrogance and didn’t go over well with that audience.

So the judge says they have to go back to work.
OK...
Take every computer out.
Take coffee pots and snack machines out.
Order any and all personal items removed.
You get an empty desk, a pad of paper, a pencil and a pencil sharpener.
Now, go to work
YES. Leave NO LIMITS on what credit card companies can charge in yearly fees and interest rates :)
Let them charge 40 percent on a 500 dollar credit card AND a 150 dollar yearly fee...it’s for suckers anyway :)
NO. There needs to be oversight...just NOT the way it’s been done.
Small, sleek, efficient, inexpensive.
The problem with Libertarianism is that they think there is NO need for government.
Obviously, the founding fathers didn’t think that.
They just wanted it VERY constrained and mostly at the state level.
Like I do.
But NO federal oversight?
I’ve seen the REAL WORLD and people get SCREWED all the time....the down and out ones...don’t mean to sound like a bleeding heart..I’m not.
But like I said, I’ve been around...some protections are needed.
Ignore these fiat activist judges.
Most are fake judges in that they were appointed by fake presidents
Somebody needs a diaper change. There are dirty diapers and tantrums going on all over the City of USATM. Go Trump! Go Musk! America is proud of you!!!
What oversight have they done? Credit card rates are still at 30-35% for people with not even bad but marginal credit. This boondoggle did nothing. It was Liz Warren’s personal piggy bank. I don’t know who is responsible for consumer credit, but it ain’t this criminal agency.
A most useless bureau that mostly copied regulations from other agencies. Issues self- evident “advice” statements that any sixth grader already knows. Shut it down!
Meet Nigerian Prince Ifeanyi Ossai Nwabuonwu Idriss.
Last year, his company, located in his Texas home, received
$1.4M tax dollars from FEMA for bottled water for illegals in NYC.
and rightfully so!
Government employees and other democrats believe the primary purpose of government jobs is to employ people.
From your lips to God's ears.

You don’t need a giant agency to limit the amount a credit card company can charge. This could be done with a bill thru congress that limits the amount charged.
Similarly, if they don’t follow the law take their license. That could be enforced with one person working part time.

People need to be protected especially from corporations with deep pockets and armies of lawyers. Corporatacracy is not capitalism.
I will tell you, there are a lot of things surrounding the Trump Administrations actions that filled me with glee, but this image below filled me with most of it:

When an auditor shows up at your door with a briefcase, that is one thing.
When an auditor shows up at your door with a note from your boss demanding you give them full access to the system, and they have their own individual beds with them instead of a suitcase..
IT MEANS THEY ARE STAYING FOR A WHILE!
I am sure they have had auditors show up before (probably pencil-neck Leftists who have been instructed not to find anything) they are taken to a room, they ask for a few records, and they leave.
When Elon Musk and DOGE show up, this is what their auditing command center looks like the next morning!
Bingo!!! Like much of the government.

After a Jack T. Chick comic.
Lol.
I knew a .gov Inspector General lady who was smoking hot—after college she got her CPA and then went to work for her agency—she was in her mid twenties when I knew her.
Her IQ was off the charts—always the smartest person in any room.
They would send her to onsite interviews of bad actors.
They were so busy drooling over her they forgot to stonewall and instead would spill the beans as she outsmarted them.
They never knew what hit them.
This sounds like MAGA to me. bring it back?
