A ban on numerous semiautomatic firearms — rifles and shotguns — passed the Colorado Senate Affairs Committee on Tuesday and is now headed to the Senate Floor.
The legislation is SB25-003, which targets firearms state Democrats define as a “specified semiautomatic firearm.”
SB25-003 says, in part:
The bill defines a “specified semiautomatic firearm” as a semiautomatic rifle or semiautomatic shotgun with a detachable magazine or a gas-operated semiautomatic handgun with a detachable magazine. The bill prohibits knowingly manufacturing, distributing, transferring, selling, or purchasing a specified semiautomatic firearm; except that a person may transfer a specified semiautomatic firearm to an heir, an individual residing in another state, or a federally licensed firearm dealer.
The legislation puts private owners and licensed dealers in Democrats’ crosshairs:

Won’t this be struck down by the courts when challenged? Or is that not a given these days?
These bans have come before the SC 12-13 times now? And failed every time.
It will again.
CA voters- please tell me again why voting for ANY democrat is a good thing...?
I don’t remember reading in the 2nd amendment about semi-automatic weapons.
Revolvers gonna make a comeback in Colorado I guess.
I’m waiting for the Supreme Court to read the Second Amendment and come to the conclusion that all gun control laws at the federal and state level are unconstitutional.
Coloradoans need to put on their big boy pants and stop these attacks on the Bill of Rights in their state.
This will cover a lot of .22 LR rifles. For example, I own a Wetherby Mark 22, purchased about 40 years ago, that uses detachable .22 LR magazines that fit in the underside of the receiver.
It was such a cool place in the late 50’s when I lived in north Denver.
Could buy cherry bombs and M 80s all year and go out blowing stuff up.
Probably a felony there now.
An American tragedy what happened to Colorado.
Liberal fools
OK belt fed weapons only.
No kidding, the populace there are basically the lefty hippies of the 60's who migrated there to escape traditional America, and they wanted this.
Go out and buy ‘em now!
They already did in the Bruen decision.
It’s just that the commies on Colorado are ignoring it.
Used to be kinda ok. About 60 years ago. Then “smarterer” people started moving there and “fixing” it.
It may be getting closer to that, if a federal law of reciprocity is passed, then states can not ban certain guns that are allowed in other states, and folks Will have the right to travel with said guns into other states.
If it passes, gun laws like ny’s unconstitutional “Safe Act” law will be null and void. Say for instance If the federal law allows unl8mitted amount of ammo in a magazine, then states like ny can’t prevent those guns from being driven into the state- if a person is allowed by federal law to own and carry a pistol, then places like NY city can not prevent a person from outside ny from carrying in that state or city.
Carl higgbie, from Newsmax, has a lawsuit filed with GOA agaisnt ny city becsuse they are holding up his right to carry slef protection pistol while in ny. If pres Trump can pass the reciprocity law, the lawsuit will be moot, and Carl and others will be allowed to do so without jumping through the massive hoops that ny throws at gun owners hopefully- but I’m sure ny will continue to pass more laws with rediculous requirements, and keep tying up the courts with their unconstitutional nonsense
Plus, if their law passes, then they will 8mmedistely go after all semi autos claiming that they are “weapons of war” if they can fire semiautomaticly
LOL! i like it
The wildly popular Ruger 10/22 would be banned by this bill. As I read it, there is no exception for caliber. There's no exception for action type (e.g. blowback verses direct inpingement).
