Trump fired Biden-appointed Democrat chair of the National Labor Relations Board Gwynne Wilcox and the general counsel of the board in the latest shakeup.
Trump’s decision to fire pro-union members Gwynne Wilcox and the labor board’s general counsel Jennifer Abruzzo is getting pushback from the agency and is being described as an “unprecedented and illegal” move.
Gwynne Wilcox may challenge Trump’s decision to fire her. In a statement to Reuters, Wilcox said she will pursue “all legal avenues” to challenge Trump’s firing.
Axios reported:
President Trump fired acting chair of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), Democrat Gwynne Wilcox late Monday night, she told Axios. He also fired the general counsel of the labor board, Jennifer Abruzzo, a strong advocate for unionization.
The big picture: Together the dismissals signal a broad purge at the nation’s labor regulator, which had been an exceptionally strong ally to workers and unions over the past four years.
Wilcox was the NLRB’s first Black woman board member. Where it stands: Under the national labor law, board members can only be fired for neglect of duty or malfeasance. Wilcox had served as acting board chair just for a few days at the end of the Biden administration — and it had been expected she would be replaced and resume her duties as board member.
She said she was looking into the possibility for challenging her removal.
The White House didn’t immediately respond to Axios’ request for comment.
Forget the country’s mandate; nobody fires the Sassy Empress!
In the past, some Republican would offer up a timorous critique of a grifter like Wilcox only to be violently shouted down by the Democrats' amen chorus. Now, Wilcox will be gone and forgotten in a few days - while CNN is busy grappling with some new Trump outrage they had not anticipated. :)
Congress has no authority to create executive agencies, effectively a fourth branch of government, that do not answer to the President.

Especially since they'd then get Vance. LOL
Of course, they could try impeaching both after the midterms, but then they'd risk being left, "a delicate feast for birds and dogs," on the Mall.
When was Gwynn Wilcox ever elected?
Workers in the Executive Branch serve at the pleasure of the President.
Anyone appointed by Biden can be fired by Trump.
And should be.
Then we can get down to the business of cutting entire useless, money-sucking departments en masse and make the whole DOGE project way easier on us.
She's more interested in herself than her political movement. Which is good for us; As you correctly pointed out, her move could be helpful for America in the long run.
....don’t these people work for the president?
So, President Trump isn’t allowed to fire people who are working to undermine his policies?
“Wilcox was the NLRB’s first Black woman board member”
Axios made sure that got that in the story.
Every new administrator fires the previous guy’s people and installs his own.
It happenes in Business, Medicine, Government, Show Biz, Everything.
Wash! Prove it Gwynne. You’d better have receipts.
A political appointee ?
When was it illegal to dump a political appointee?
Gonna be a short day in the court room.
“She said she was looking into the possibility for challenging her removal.”
go right ahead, by the time it’s made its way to SCOTUS it’ll be moot ... [i suppose you could always refuse to leave your office (assuming you’re not “working” remotely) and the U.S. Marshal’s could “escort” you out ...]
Did an Amendment get ratified to have the Constitution preamble to now say “We the obedient subjects of Her Majesty Gwynne Wilcox ...”? Who does she think she is? Good riddance.
