LA Times owner's stark message to voters as he attacks Democrat incompetence over deadly fires: Live updates

As the California wildfires continue to rage, so does anger over the handling of the disaster which has already claimed the lives of at least 13 people and destroyed more than 10,000 structures.

The owner of the Los Angeles Times Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong is among those leading criticism of Democrats' response as he issued a stark message to voters stressing the need for 'competence' when electing leaders.

Officials are now warning that fast and erratic winds may spread the fires throughout untouched areas over the weekend.

Amid a search for the cause of the crisis, energy firm Southern California Edison admitted its grid short-circuited just after 10pm on Tuesday when a tower went down - the same time the Hurst Fire erupted.

The expansion of Los Angeles' Palisades fire which partially shuttered the 405 freeway has also engulfed the celebrity neighborhood of Brentwood.

As the efforts stretched into their fourth day, it was revealed that a major reservoir in the worst hit area of Pacific Palisades had been drained and closed for repairs when the blaze broke out this week.

Pile on people. It took 2 bombs before the Japanese understood. Makes no difference to the left.

This is a surprise, that the Democrat Party is entirely incompetent?

People in Los Angeles voted for this.

Caveat emptor, California voters!

All the time they spend going to classes for diversity and thumb sucking leaves little time for training to do their job.

Oh, sure, like competence is more important than DEI virtue-signaling.

The Democrats have failed, so its time to elect a new group of Democrats who will fix the problem.

This is California, after all.

The fact that they stopped maintaining the firebreaks years ago tells you it was a plan.

No other evidence is required.

I’ve posted twice on his X account why he, as LA Times owner, continued to use writers who espouse DEI and bash conservatives. He didn’t respond.

The sunk cost fallacy is a cognitive bias that makes you feel as if you should continue pouring money, time, or effort into a situation since you’ve already “sunk” so much into it already. This perceived sunk cost makes it difficult to walk away from the situation since you don’t want to see your resources wasted.

“he issued a stark message to voters stressing the need for ‘competence’ when electing leaders.”

so, selecting leaders based on their skin color/ethnicity/claimed-gender and/or the type of freaks they prefer to fornicate with aren’t the optimal selection criteria after all?

it was a tear in the floating cover - that Gorilla tape could have mended while a new cover was ordered. The cover’s been off so long I’d bet nobody even knows where it is by now.

Just need to vote for the more democratee democrat. Once the last republican is expelled from California it will be utopia and the democrats can finally get things done the way they want it done.

“... the need for ‘competence’ when electing leaders.”

Wow, what a concept.

Most CA voters, especially young skulls full o’ mush, don’t even know what he’s talking about.

People are finally waking up to just how incompetent the democrats are. Is it incompetence or is it being done on purpose? Are they trying to leave Trump so many problems that he can’t put his agenda into motion? I don’t trust these dirty bastards. They are haters of America and the American people. Treason charges need to be brought back into America.
