Nine House Republicans Send Mike Johnson a Message: We Have Votes to Vacate You as Speaker
Breitbart ^ | 01/03/2025 | Wensel Husebo

Nine House Republicans signaled to Speaker Mike Johnson that they have leverage to file a motion to vacate him from the position.

The House rules package set to be voted upon after the Speaker is elected contains a provision that sets a nine member threshold for a motion to vacate the Speaker.

In the previous Congress, the threshold was only one member, by which Kevin McCarthy lost his power. Three House Republican members voted for someone other than Johnson on the first ballot Friday. Two of the three then changed their vote to Johnson.

Six additional members also initially withheld their vote for Johnson before they changed their vote at the end of the first round.

The strategy suggests the nine members are indicating they have the power later in the year to send Johnson packing.

Kicking Johnson out is not the problem.
It should be all about having a well organized, well funded alternative all set up before Johnson is kicked out, if it comes to that. Musk should keep an eye on Johnson.

Get the important work done first. Get the cabinet installed.

Cabinet installation has nothing to do with the House.
The Senate is another matter altogether, requiring a different strategy in 2026.

We have a republic not a democracy. We have representative government not mob rule. The minority should not dictate to the majority.

If we believe these things to be true, why should 9 republicans be allowed to supersede the will of the other 200 republicans in the House?

They would be going against Trump and would have to cross over and vote with Jeffries and Pelosi. Would make them RINO traitors IMO.

I like this.

It’s a shot over Johnson’s ‘bow’ so to speak...

He stays inline all is well — if he strays off the plantation he looses the extra salary and BIG office.

Will be fun to watch!

Yes.
Johnson is a snake.
You can’t really trust a snake.

If Johnson had the support he needs he won’t have to make annoying concessions to the Democrats.By working with Johnson the holdouts would get more of what they want. Instead, like two-year-olds they want what they want, all of it ...NOW. As a result they get nothing by forcing Johnson to cave to the Democrats.

The Diva Party continues to prove they cannot compete against the Democrats and their ability to govern.

I don’t think the House has a role in approving the cabinet. Their first goal is to certify Trump’s win. Then they need to work on his passing mandate.

“if he strays off the plantation he looses the extra salary and BIG office.”

And loses the power and all that massive corrupt money he’s been getting.

It’s an empty threat until they can get to votes — and the Congress — for a better replacement.

They have the 9 votes needed to kick out Johnson. That's easy.
The question now is to organize a well funded alternative before they vote Johnson out, if it comes to that.

Instead, like two-year-olds they want what they want, all of it ...NOW.

Two can use that analogy.

Seems to me that the other 209 Republicans who don't seem to get how critical is our financial situation, are acting like two-year-olds with an empty bottle in hand, demanding an endless stream of money to spend NOW.

Thought they had hearings, but they still got to get the border closed and budget passed.

This article is bogus - a complete fabrication out of thin air by Husebo.

The title makes it seem as 9 Members sent Johnson a letter...

If Johnson pulls out yet another treacherous, sleazy pork filled bill like he did for the CR, he's done.
No way Trump or MAGA back him then.
Plus of course Musk will be solidly behind them 9 House members with all the money they need to win.
