As many companies are cutting back or ending diversity initiatives, Costco's Board of Trustees is pushing back on efforts to end the company's DEI programs.
The Board urged its shareholders to vote against a proposal submitted by the National Center for Public Policy Research that called on Costco to eliminate DEI programs. The group claims that DEI programs are discriminatory and put the company at financial risk.
"It's clear that DEI holds litigation, reputational and financial risks to the Company, and therefore financial risks to shareholders," the National Center for Public Policy Research wrote in its letter of support.
In response, Costco's Board of Trustees voted unanimously to urge shareholders to decline the proposal. Shareholders will have their say on Jan. 23.
"Our success at Costco Wholesale has been built on service to our critical stakeholders: employees, members, and suppliers," the Board wrote in response to the proposal. "Our efforts around diversity, equity and inclusion follow our code of ethics: For our employees, these efforts are built around inclusion – having all of our employees feel valued and respected. Our efforts at diversity, equity and inclusion remind and reinforce with everyone at our Company the importance of creating opportunities for all.

I agree.
The board should agree to be personally liable for any legal action taken against the DEI program then.
That was going to be my post.
Have been, in this order, a member at BJ’s, Costco, and Sam’s Club, based on which was the nearest to where we lived at the time. Of the three the best overall experience has been at Sam’s, BJ’s second, and Costo last. DEI delusion on the company’s part isn’t their only problem. It’s just icing on a s*** cake.
BlackRock pretty much owns the voting rights to all companies because they control the stocks through the indexed funds they administer.
All the the DEI Maoist criminality stems from BlackRock. The companies themselves are mere hostages.
MAGA Costco shoppers need to find a new place.
Time for a boycott of Costco.
Blackrock and Vanguard need to be broken up into multiple companies. Their emblematic of the problems caused by too much wealth accumulation in one place.
“This Board needs to be immediately replaced by COSTCO.’
If you own or buy enough shares of Costco stock, you can move it in that direction.
Any company that would even consider this Communist bull s**t needs to go out of business.
You also have to keep in mind that Costco is based in Seattle. It’s hq is is in Issaquah and Costco #1 is on 4th Ave. South about four miles south of downtown Seattle.
DIE COSTCO DIE.

I boycotted the Covid mask-required retailers and will do the same with the DEI advocates.
Great. Gives me a reason to avoid the Costco zoo.

Here’s where a buyers boycott would tell them if it’s the course they should take.
Well, I haven’t noticed any DEI stuff going on at the Costco nearest me, which is 160 miles away. I will continue to shop there when I can.
I how they don’t. I’d love to sue them. Gotta be plenty of disgruntled workers who lost position or a job at COSTCO. And COSTCO’s BOD just admitted it wants to keep going. Plenty of COSTCO’s in deep red states like Texas where Juries just love handing down big as verdicts
Hey, COSTCO board: DEI stands for “Didn’t Earn It.”
