Kay Granger was first elected to Congress nearly 30 years ago. She served as chair of the powerful House Appropriations Committee until she stepped down in March of this year. This week, her family admits she has “some dementia issues” and has lived in an assisted-care facility for the last six months. The last time she voted on the House floor was in July, and she has missed over 300 votes since then.
The average age of Senators in the incoming Congress will be 64-years-old. In the House (meant to be “the people’s chamber”) the average age is 59. A majority of the Supreme Court is above or near retirement age.
Because of all the advantages of incumbency, over 97% (379 wins and just 11 losses) of House members running for reelection won their races this year. That percentage hasn’t changed much due to the huge money-raising advantages of incumbency and gerrymandered districts.
We desperately need a three or four-term limit for House members and a two-term (of six years each) limit on the Senate. As our co-founder, Steve Forbes has always said: “A pond needs constant fresh water or it develops algae.”
1. Term limits for POTUS and the Congress.
2. Tort reform (loser pays)
3. Repeal the 1935 Social Security Act. No more SSA deductions and payments to be phased out as the population “ages out.”
4. Repeal the 1935 NLRA
5. Repeal the 1934 NFA
And the world will be a better place.
“Over 97% of House Incumbents Won in 2024”
If people are serious about getting rid of RINOs, they need to be willing to defeat them in the general election, not just the primaries. Otherwise, you’re stuck with them for 20-30 years.
Kay Granger was not one of them. Kay Granger had already retired and someone else was elected in her place.
I repeat. Kay Granger retired.
Should she have done so prior?
Yes.
Are term limits a good idea?
Yes.
But unlike some others in Congress she retired rather then being wheeled in on a gurney to "vote".
At this point, leave her be.
Kay Granger was the House version of Kay Bailey Hutchinson.
No. You can't cure an ignorant electorate with term limits.
If term limits worked California would have a responsible legislature. Yet what we do have is a revolving door for lobbyists nobody knows with loyalties directed to their next job.
Congress as a whole has a low approval rating, but it appears everyone thinks their congressman is not the problem.
This is how the Democrats have a redistricting advantage. Note that Trump won the popular vote. There will be districts that can be redrawn without attracting the ire of any courts because of that Trump advantage.
The Democrats redistricted California and grabbed those seats. That didn’t happen because they counted for several extra weeks. That happened because they redistricted blue voters into those districts and the seat holder in the blue district from which those blue voters came did not obstruct that. Instead of winning by 25%, that person won by 10%.
Our GOPe swamp filth equivalents will not give up that 15%. They want a career and they get it by running in a district with an enormous advantage. That advantage could be redistricted into some blue districts and grab some seats, but ooooooo. Our swamp filth won’t risk it. They don’t give a damn about MAGA having control of the house. They think of it as being there for the past 10 years and after Trump is gone they’ll be there for another 10 years.
It is up to the RNC to demand that the good old boy networks in the various states refuse to allow this to go on any longer. Those seat holders are very powerful in their state party and they have to be told that they are going to be giving up lead in order to obtain lead elsewhere.
This is a case of extreme gerrymandering, almost as bad as Maryland and Massachusetts.
She did not retire, she stepped down from a committee position.
With strong support from Musk for opponents to free spending, wasteful congressmen, the 97% return rate will inevitably fall in 2026.
There’s already term limits for POTUS.
The issue with Kay Granger is not Kay Granger.
It is her staff.
What did they do wrong?
Let me count the ways:
—Maintained fraudulent X and Instagram and Facebook accounts pretending she was still in “the game” when in fact she was in “Independent Living” in Fort Worth.
—Took a vote away from Republicans since she cast no votes since late July. A special election could have been called at any time in this 60-40 Republican district.
—Once a Republican had been elected to replace her in November they could have worked to have the new young Republican sworn in so they were available to vote for the rest of the year.
—The staff had zero whistleblowers so all were complicit in the fraud.
—By making this stupid and counter-productive move they forced Republican leadership to make a tough decision—play along with the fraud or make a wise decision and replace her. Since Republicans are the stupid party they chose Plan A.
—This was not a secret to Democratic leadership who could use it to blackmail Republican leadership..play ball with us or we expose your slimy “Weekend at Bernies” scheme.
—All this was happening at a time when Republicans were attacking the senile Biden for being non compos mentis—exposing the Republican leadership as idiotic hypocrites.
Kay was responsible for none of this.

Btw—as of this morning no-one in Republican leadership and no-one on the Granger staff has admitted their complicity in this ongoing fraud and/or apologized for it.
If we silently accept this garbage we will keep getting it.
Term limits for the unelected administrative state is a bigger issue. They are a bigger problem than Congress. We at least have a chance of throwing out the electeds.
You left out the most important item.
REFUSE TO ALLOW DEEP STATE TO SELECT OUR CANDIDATES FOR US.
EXACTLY. In Michigan we went to state-level term limit years ago and lost both the state house and the state senate for the first time in DECADES the last term. Why is this? First and foremost is that the rats plan years ahead and control their people so some leftist (unknown) is ready to go on day one. The state-level GOP does not do so and you don’t even know that person’s name and you have to look it up and find some info if you can. The rat’s machine is geared this way, the GOP is not.
We have term limits, it's called an election.
Term limits should be called The DEEP STATE PRESERVATION ACT.
They already view our elected officials as the Summer Help.
They already interfere in elections (DUH!) with impunity.
Term limits would not bother them at all.
They need to be hit as hard as Biden’s enablers. Her constituents were not being served or represented.
