Civilian death counts in the Gaza war have been inflated to portray Israel as deliberately targeting civilians, an independent group of researchers at the Henry Jackson Society found in a study published on Saturday.
The study, titled Questionable Counting: Analysing the death toll from the Hamas-run Ministry of Health in Gaza, found that leading global English-language news outlets failed to distinguish between civilian and combatant casualties and relied on statistics from the Hamas-run Health Ministry when reporting on the war in Gaza.
Some of the key findings include men listed as women to inflate female fatalities, adults registered as children, disproportionate deaths of fighting-age men, the inclusion of natural deaths in reporting, and media underreporting of combatant deaths.

The research reveals that despite regular reporting on Gaza casualties, many English-language publications omit the number of combatant casualties, failing to include them in the overall casualty count.
Researchers examined eight influential English-language news outlets, including BBC, CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, Associated Press, Reuters, and ABC.

I saw a military analyst the first couple of days after the Hamas invasion of Israel and the hostage taking.
He said the most efficient and evidence of results supported
strategy was the Putin strikes against the Muslim conclaves with not very many Russian troops lost and the operation finished with decisive victory.
He said the Israelis would not do that due to ethical concerns and would risk many more IDF and other Israeli lives to protect Arab civilians by carefully planned attacks to minimize such casualties. He said that’s what Israel has done since 1948.
He was right.
But no credit for being that way. College students and the UN and others still call them genocidal butchers without restraint.

The Geneva Conventions which attempt to grasp rational, moral threads to apply during wars’ barbarity formed the basis for our operations. For my Navy experience helping to pulverize a major enemy base in the Delta of Vietnam, I especially liked the obvious reading of Articles 28 and 29 of the Fourth Geneva Convention. The VC were responsible for any civilian deaths in the base we shelled. Those civilians qualified as Protected Persons within the enemy’s physical control and could not be used to render certain points and areas immune from military operations. The Convention articles are as follows:
ART. 28. — The presence of a protected person may not be used to render certain points or areas immune from military operations.
ART. 29. — The Party to the conflict in whose hands protected persons may be, is responsible for the treatment accorded to them by its agents, irrespective of any individual responsibility which may be incurred.
The passages furnished the basis for rules of engagement we followed when attacking a legitimate military target. Distance provided me the blessing of avoiding the clean up after-wards for the mess I helped create. However, I am certain our task force was effective. We helped to permanently shatter the last intact VC main force unit, forcing it to surrender the region to South Vietnamese control.
