The joy of Germany's Syrian refugees rejoicing the fall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government this weekend has quickly died down as leading lawmakers began calling for them to be deported back to their war-torn homeland.
Hours after Syrians jubilantly took to the streets in several German cities on Sunday, leader of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party Alice Weidel declared anyone celebrating 'a free Syria evidently no longer has a reason to flee'.
'He should return to Syria immediately,' she said bluntly in a public statement shared on social networks.
On Monday, prominent conservative lawmaker Jens Spahn told Germany's N-TV: 'For everyone who wants to go back to Syria, we will charter planes for them, they will get a starting fund of 1,000 euros (£824).'
Similar sentiments were expressed by far-left leaders and politicians in equal measure.
In 2015, then-Chancellor Angela Merkel was lauded for opening Germany's borders to hundreds of thousands of refugees fleeing war-torn Syria, coining the now infamous slogan: 'We will manage it'.
Nearly a decade later, German lawmakers across the political spectrum are highly critical of Merkel's altruism and are pushing for a crackdown on immigration, which has become a hot-button topic among voters with an election approaching.

In fact, what you’ll find is that at least half of the ‘Syrians’ aren’t even from Syria, but said they were ‘Syrian Refugees’ (some even couldn’t speak Arabic, LOL) because YOU IDIOTS would set them up nice and comfy if they made that claim.
If you want them to leave, go hire a bunch of Ukrainian Press Gangs to round them up for deportation because otherwise, THEY AIN’T GOING NOWHERE.

Ehhh, sorry Sied but Germans can do things to your family FAR WORSE than deporting them, once Germans put their minds to it - and that day may be sooner than you think. Best hop a flight to Damascus as soon as you can.
I had a terrific fly-drive trip to Germany right before the Berlin Wall came down. Germans in most places welcomed me with opened arms, but in Bavaria, they thought I was Jewish and bed-and-breakfasts wouldn’t rent to me.
Had a terrific time in Berlin, very sophisticated city ,Xlnt stores, terrific restaurants. Took a bus tour of East Berlin, which was absolutely ghastly.
I guess the bleeping Syrians are making Germany ghastly all over the place. What a shame.
Yep, that would have been a GREAT TIME to go...and you’re right, pretty much all of Western and Central Europe is turning into a hell-hole.
The people of Europe were simply TOTAL IDIOTS for inviting that bunch in and then refused to stop taking them when it was becoming obvious that they would be headed towards civil war (or worse). Now they have no choice - it’s civil war or genocide and the Europeans are far from assured of winning a civil war (unless, of course, they ask Russia for help).
Maybe they can elect a strong leader who can assemble a powerful cabinet and they can DEPORT all of them.
Germany went woke. Now they might as well as rename it "New Syria".

With Assad gone and the country now solidly sunni, the rationalization for refugee status has ceased. Time to go home, boys and girls
to atone for Mr. Hitler, the Germans have transitioned into pajama boy and are taking it pretty hard up the wazoo. When people are dangerous, you breed them out. The Germans took on the world—- twice, and it was close!
