If Biden does grant mass pardons, there may be a benefit for America
American Thinker ^ | Andrea Widburg

Posted on 12/09/2024 3:25:07 AM PST by RoosterRedux

The Democrat party owns the administrative state, which means the DOJ and all the three-letter agencies. Even with new management, the foot soldiers are unreliable. The Democrat party also owns a large part of the federal judiciary. The Trump administration can bring indictments, but it’s questionable whether it can effectively prosecute the cases—and Democrats know this.

...

However, I’d like you to imagine a different scenario—a better one for America—if Joe Biden does give blanket pardons.

In that case, Congress must immediately convene hearings and call in these pardoned people to testify about everything—that is, what they knew and when they knew it. Subjects would include, but not be limited to, the Russia Hoax, including the Steele Dossier; the fake Ukraine impeachment; what happened before, during, and after January 6; every single thing about COVID; and, depending on who gets pardoned, about Epstein and Diddy.

If the pardoned insiders are under oath, they must answer because they can no longer hide behind the Fifth Amendment’s protection from self-incrimination. Moreover, the “I don’t remember” tactic must be viewed with incredible suspicion. After all, everyone understands that it’s just a backdoor way to avoid self-incrimination. The pardoned must confess all. Failing that, into prison they go for contempt of Congress.

What we’ll end up having if Congress stays strong and the Attorney General takes contempt seriously is the equivalent of South Africa’s “truth and reconciliation” hearings. While we won’t have the satisfaction of seeing people who engaged in criminal acts go to prison, something more important might happen: Americans will finally learn the full story of Democrat party corruption. That could (and should) end the Democrat party for a generation, and that’s a much more satisfying outcome than having political fighting about fair or unfair prosecutions.

I will suggest it’s all BS. A fair number of these people that they talk over....are on Joe’s S*it-list. He’ll discuss it, but I think he’ll dump the whole thing in the final 48 hours. Pelosi, for one...won’t get a pardon.

The next thing Democrats will due is argue against the President being able to give absolute pardons, so they can persecute Trump’s cabinet and Trump.

Must convene???? Yeah right. Even with Republicans having a majority, we would not expect that would ever happen.

Those subpoenaed can just ignore the orders to testify, with impunity. There are still enough deep-state creatures embedded in the courts that they’ll refuse to prosecute.

They’ll ignore the subpoenas that are issued. They’ll have democrat donors and voters pay their legal fees. They’ll dare the Trump DOJ to do a single thing. Citizen justice or nothing at all. How many people did Fauci kill?

I truly do not understand this thinking.

The traditional countermove is for people to say "I take the Fifth" about 500 times. But they can't do that, right? Because of the pardon? So now they get to say "I don't recall" about 500 times. I don't see the difference.

I thought you had to say you did wrong before you got a pardon!

the “assistant Democrats” in Congress will help paper over as much of the crimes as possible before 01/21

Sorry, unfortunately the "I don't remember" answer works every time.

She's saying that a response of I don't recall over and over again in an effort to lie in such hearings would be grounds for a contempt of Congress charge. And that isn't covered by a pardon.

It would take some backbone by Congressmen, but an outrageous blanket pardon would presumably stiffen many backbones.

Congress would need to pass another law that makes it contempt of Congress for a person who has been granted a federal pardon for any crime , charged or uncharged if they refuse to answer by stating “I don’t recall” or “I can’t or don’t remember” and make it punishable by 5 years in prison and fined $250,000.

Not to mention... all the cover ups and all the info that is likely to get released.
If “all” that happens is all of these evil people are exposed and their political “careers” are destroyed forever, along with the democrat party, I’m good with that.

Agreed. The article was more fantasy than reality and substantive law.

Sounds like a huge waste of time, but it might keep Congress too busy to pass stupid laws and spend way too much money.

The “I don’t recall” defense worked superbly for Hillary and will do the same for any Democrat called to testify. Nothing will come from these hearings.
