Shane Gillis x Bud Light | Wrong Commercial
Guess this is an attempt to get drinkers back.
Problem: people drink beer out of habit. Thoughtlessly order the same thing they always drink.
Bud Light forced the change of habits and likely never get those drinkers back.
Don’t know who those people are, what is the message supposed to be?
Bud what?
It took 20 years of some really innovative commercials to climb to the top of the market. It’s likely to be a long slog climbing back up.
They are dead to current generations.
If they survive the next twenty years they may be able to rebuild their brand.
They’re trying to hard. That was cringe.
They had frat boys, good % of Hispanics, and about 12% of the market.
Since the transgender Dylan ad they lost HALF the market.
It’ll take decades to recover - if they ever will as most of those who left were a definite exit.
This ad is trying to stand ‘outside’ the Bud Light ads and make fun of themselves. ??
It’s a strange ad and amusing but don’t think it’s going to bring back the old drinkers that left.
Funny also because Shane Gillis was famously FIRED from SNL for making race jokes (?) or some other such nonsense (was perceived as a Trump supporter).
So they purposely are going out trying to buy off ‘thought leaders’ from the right side of the political landscape thinking that’ll win back the herd.
As if this insanity wasn’t enough — go look at the new Jaguar campaign. Trans black weirdness in a .... car ad?
With no actual cars in the ad.
But... it “started a conversation...”
Bud Light should just go away as a brand. Just make the same “beer” and call it something else. Launch a whole new ad campaign featuring manly men who eat automotive fuel systems.
Trans Cola. No thanks.
Well, better than the Jaguar ad.
The other problem these same people have now sampled beer that doesn’t suck.
Actually l thought it was pretty funny. They have spent millions on efforts to undue the damage when all they had to do was issue a clear apology. It would have nothing but blowback from the woke mob.
Revive the “Real Men of Genius” campaign, and make the people who greenlighted Dylan Mulvaney the target.
That was one pathetically stupid commercial. Keep digging Bud.
Worked for a guy that would say your reputation is like a bucket of water. Once it gets kicked over, it takes an eye dropper to fill it back up. That’s where BL is today.
I did fine a beer I like much better than the bud light I was drinking. They won’t get me back.
The commercial is weak because it was not an accident that the wrong uh dude was in the Bud commercial. Also they lacked the guts to have a transvestite in the sports bar.
I don’t think Gillis is a Trump guy. I’m pretty sure he’s the guy for whoever pays him. Not a criticism just an observation.
The guy eating the wings was a ‘bro’ with some leather biker clothes on and he was accepted for being there.
So what was the problem?
I think they should go with the CEO sitting down apologizing. Try that trick.
But it’s a confusing ad.
See the comment above - once you lose a customer like they did unlikely they’ll get that customer back.
I had been a life-long user of Gillette products, and I had a lot of them. When they embarked on their “toxic masculinity” campaign, I was astonished.
I thought “Who do they think their customer base is?”
It was insane. Well. They lost me, and I will never go back. I use Harry’s Razors now.
Insanity.
