Yesterday was the third day of the Laken Riley murder trial in Athens, Georgia, and the day on which prosecutors rested their case after calling 25 witnesses to the stand.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the case, Riley was a 22-year-old nursing student who was murdered while jogging on the University of Georgia campus earlier this year. Her alleged murderer, José Antonio Ibarra, is a 26-year-old Venezuelan man who is in the United States illegally. He's been charged with felony murder, malice murder, false imprisonment, hindering a 911 call, aggravated assault with intent to rape, and kidnapping, among other things. He faces life in jail if convicted. The case has garnered national attention at a time when illegal immigration and criminal migrants are big topics in the United States.
If you haven't been able to watch any of the trial, I must warn you: It has been, at times, equal parts heartbreaking and infuriating. Full disclosure: I attended the University of Georgia myself and have spent a lot of time on that campus. I've never once felt unsafe there, which makes this murder all the more disturbing and upsetting. That said, here are the highlights.
Ibarra came to the U.S. illegally in September 2022, passing over the border in El Paso, Texas. While he was detained at a processing facility, immigration officials eventually released him, allowing him to stay in the country temporarily until his trial date. He ended up in New York, where he was arrested for a minor crime and released in August 2023. While in New York, Ibarra spent time living with a roommate, Rosbeli Flores-Bello, in a car, and eventually living with Flores-Bello, his wife, and his mother-in-law in housing that had been converted into a shelter for migrants.

What the Biden-Harris administration has done to this nation with their open borders policies should be considered a criminal offense at the minimum. I call it an act of treason.
No wonder Trump is assembling a “get things done” team. This crap has got to stop and people need to be held accountable to prevent it from happening in the future.
The ChiComjoe Administration officials should be indicted as co-defendants in the Laken Riley murder trial.
It just now dong'ed on me that Riley's murder is receiving nowhere near the attention that Ahmaud Arbery did for being "murdered while jogging while black" in early 2020.
I want the Riley family to SUE BIDEN, et al.
FOR MILLIONS of $$$$$$$
“What the Biden-Harris administration has done to this nation with their open borders policies should be considered a criminal offense at the minimum. I call it an act of treason.”
And the election was that close.
THANK GOD that President Trump prevailed, by the grace of God, and will get rid of these criminals that Brandon and the Ho intentionally brought into our country.
Worse that there are prosecutor's and judges who let these evil perverts go!
It was said George Soros and his son recognized they could influence elections much better by supporting$$$ 'bad' judges, DA's etc. into office in order to carry out their personal agendas for this country....who would not prosecute.
He faces life in jail if convicted.
Real justice would require those in the Biden regime to face criminal charges for opening the borders and an assisting scum like this to break the law.
GUILTY ON ALL TEN COUNTS…….sentencing at 12:30.
Death penalty is off the table because the Soros supported prosecutor did not ask for the death penalty. Thus prosecutor is no longer involved in the case.
“Why is the death penalty off the table?”
Until November 5, 2024, Athens-Clarke County had a Soros DA. She was voted out. Think of Athens as a mini-Atlanta of blue voters surrounded on every side by red counties that voted up to 70%-30% for Trump.
It’s the home of UGA. Most of the professors and administrators are Democrats and the majority of students are conservatives. It’s a weird mixture. Professors come to the university to teach and then retire here. They all vote democrat.
Deborah Gonzolez, the former DA, had removed the death penalty from consideration on any cases no matter how horrific. I believe that position was the main reason she was voted out. That in addition to the fact that the local Bar despised her. I believe at least one attorney had sued her for failure to follow state law and won.
I want a public hanging...on live tv.
A criminal can kidnap, rape, and murder with premeditation and have no risk of the death penalty even when caught and convicted with overwhelming evidence.
Sad.
