Republicans seek to revoke security clearances for ex-intel officials over Hunter Biden laptop case

Several Republican lawmakers want Congress to strip the security clearances of dozens of former U.S. intelligence officials who worked against President Trump in 2020 by asserting that information in the laptop of Hunter Biden was likely Russian disinformation.

Republicans have called for accountability from the 51 intelligence officials who were accused of helping Democratic presidential candidate Joseph R. Biden, Mr. Trump’s opponent in 2020, by issuing a joint letter stating that the information in the laptop bore the hallmarks of an operation by Moscow.

Hunter Biden is the president’s oft-troubled son, and the FBI later verified the authenticity of the scandalous material in the laptop.

Vice President-elect J.D. Vance pledged during the campaign that the incoming Trump administration would strip the security clearances of the 51 former intelligence officials “who said that the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation.”

Great ad at this link...

The Next 4 Years Are Going To Be A ******* Blast

NSFW headline, no profanity in the ad.

X won't let me post the link from there for some strange reason.

But enjoy and share the ad.

Deep State has good reason to be terrified.

Swing away, Mr. President!

They used their government positions, past security status, to do a political operation that involved interfering in a national election a deceiving the American people.

That’s a good reason to remove the clearances.

VP-elect J.D. Vance pledged the Trump admin would strip the security clearances of the 51 former Biden-worshiping intel officials who claimed that the salacious Hunter Biden laptop was “Russian disinformation.”

The intel letter was calculatedly devised for one purpose——it gave
the conniving candidate Biden a talking point when he debated Trump.

JUST strip security clearances? Is that the best they can do? Sheesh. Hubby had T.S. and Q clearances and if he had pulled what they did, he’d be cooling his heels in Graybar Hotel.

They likely committed a civil rights conspiracy to defraud the American voters out of a fair election by misrepresenting the source of the evidence against Hunter.

Graham, Issa, Biggs

Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said, “It should be an option” to yank the officials’ security clearances. Mr. Graham told The Washington Times that each official must be held accountable and that he plans on writing a letter to each one soon. He did not specify what the letter would say.

“I think we should scrub all the legacy clearances to see whether the people need to have them and for what purpose, and unless they’re working for a company in a role that makes sense, they should be taken away,” said Rep. Darrell Issa, California Republican. “Most on that list [of 51], I would include in that scrubbing.”

Rep. Andy Biggs, Arizona Republican, said the 51 intelligence officials “should all lose their security clearances.”

Why do former officials have clearances at all? What is their “need to know”?

“The intel letter was calculatedly devised for one purpose——it gave the conniving candidate Biden a talking point when he debated Trump.”

More than one purpose, it also gave the media justification to spike the story and call it Fake News (blamed on Russia, of course) whenever it did pop up.

As far as I know, there is NO LAW that requires these clowns to maintain security clearances after leaving their positions, so every president, including Democrats, should simply choose whoever they want from this bunch to have the clearances, and the others can find other things to do.

Their need to to know is because they need to make money.

No clearance, no money.

It was good to be Deep State.

“strip the security clearances of dozens of former U.S. intelligence officials who worked against President Trump in 2020”

Just do it! These skunks need these clearances for business reasons and for MSNBC appearances as commentators. If they want a sensitive executive job at Boeing....... Then they need these security clearances.

MEANING this hurts their income. Punish these rotters!

“That’s a good reason to remove the clearances.”

It’s an even better reason to ship the traitors to camp Gitmo.

I had TS/SCI for the last 13 years of my career. When I retired, those clearances went away. I have them again because I am cleared counsel for several government contractors. But they were not continuations of previous clearances, though that helped me get the civilian clearances. Standard procedure is that you get read out of everything right before you leave government service.

It’s always been a courtesy for them to maintain it, so they can earn a living post service. They can do lectures, work at think tanks, and appear on tallk shows as a “Top Secret security expert”. Stripping them of this seriously cripples their ability to earn money. Which is great.

I understand the ostensible rationale...to a point.

The argument is, that there are instances where a former government employee or politician needs to be brought in for consultation on a current situation, and having a security clearance clears some of the red tape and facilitates the timely coordination.

That is the argument.

The real reason is that it is considered a perk. An extremely valuable perk, and every person, before and present who has a security clearance has a valuable commodity that can provide them with a huge boost in income when they leave the government.

I view it as a horrible hole and abuse. IMO, if people need to be brought up to date, and have had a security clearance in the past, there should be a separate mechanism to handle this kind of thing.

I view it as a horrible security hole to allow people to keep theirs. No doubt every single vile Leftist politician from Eric Holder and John Brennan to Sally Yates and James Clapper have theirs. And they use their clearance solely for filthy, anti-American political purposes apart from simply enriching themselves.
