Republicans make major gains in control of state governments

Before the election, the GOP controlled 57 state legislative chambers, while Democrats controlled 41 (Nebraska’s unicameral legislature is nonpartisan). Many legislative races were still too close to call Wednesday, so it’s unclear exactly how many chambers each party will control once results are final.

But Republicans defended or expanded their control in several state capitols — and won the nation’s only tightly contested gubernatorial race with the election of former U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte as New Hampshire’s next governor.

In some cases, early results show Republicans broke up Democratic trifectas, in which one party controls both legislative chambers and the governorship. Those flips could create less left-leaning policymaking as lawmakers are compelled to negotiate legislation across the aisle.

The GOP also successfully defended such veto-proof majorities in several states, which could portend even more conservative policymaking.

Good results all across the country in down-ballot local races. The article is kind of rambling, so I didn't copy too much of it, but check it out.

Notable in Michigan Repubs won control of the House, Dems can't automatically send radical legislation for Whitmer to sign. Article says Repubs in Minn. got a 67-67 split in the State House, meaning that Dems can't push through legislation on their own.

Overall, good news and proof the GOP can win at all levels.

And we must. We need to specifically target these local races in the coming elections.

Taking control of state-houses is the first/best way to combat election fraud by passing laws such as ID requirements. It’s one of the reasons Florida and Ohio are no longer swing states.

Yup, and courts are allowing strict photo ID requirements, but state legislatures have to pass them first.

Cut the crap. Which state legislatures can do it to our advantage?
Deep blue are not worth it unless it’s mandated from congress.

I am more worried about the DC congressional house. If Pelosi manages to ever gets her boney evil fingers around that gravel again she will hinder any traction Trump gets. Remember she owns ALL of the DC swamp real estate! EVIL *ITCH! Very nervous.

I suspect that if Democrats win/steal the House, we’ll be seeing Hakeem Jeffries as speaker, not that he’ll be any better.

Dems don’t take days off when the counting starts. They probably are still out canvassing the dead.

Look at what’s going on in Arizona apparently 97,000 votes appeared out of thin air. They’re stealing this election again from lake ….infuriating and so sad. But I’m hoping Trump will get her as press secretary. That would be awesome.

Excellent.

There’s fringe benefits to creaming the other side, when
folks really see things as they exist.
