My thoughts are that it should be dropped to a 55 vote requirement instead of 60.

The filibuster is not a suicide pact.

Nope

You don’t hand your enemies a tool to beat your legislative agenda to death with mindless rabid obstructionism

Be warned. If Republicans keep the fillibuster, MAGA will fail, and the Democrats will vote-cheat their way back into socialism.

Yeah, I’m sure the filibuster will be just fine to have if the Dems use it

The Dems badly wanted to axe the filibuster, so in the name of bringing the country together we should give them what they want.

I'd rather see it be executed as intended.

You want to filibuster? Fine. Get a book and a catheter and stand for as long as you can and speak in opposition or read poems.

But the moment you collapse in exhaustion, we vote on the topic.

No more mere threats of filibuster and have that derail legislation. When did that start anyway? We have to get sanity back in Washington.

It should remain in place except when used for things “Chuck you” Schumer is against. :->

Name to be changed to the “Everybody but Schumer” Rule.

For “advise and consent” appointments of executive branch people, Congress should have the prospective appointee available for questions for two weeks, and then vote.

No filibuster to keep Democrat holdovers.

The Senators all want to keep the filibuster, since it makes each senator important, and guarantees they will all be courted by lobbyists.

I really think they should put this to a vote, just to get the Democrats on record now that Trump has been elected. Do another one on packing the Supreme Court. They still want that, right?

Another one on letting the Trump administration decide what is “disinformation”, so social media can ban it, and purveyors of “disinformation” can be punished. Still all-in with that one, Leftists? Vote for it!

Have your say, but then step out of the way.

If they keep it, change the rules back to them having to stand up there and actually DO something for hours and hours on end.

Well now might be the time to get rid of the Fillibuster

Right now there is only one Republican Senator from a Blue State, Susan Collins of Maine who is up in 2026. However, there are many Democrat senators in Red or leaning red states that could be ripe for the picking.

In 2026 for example Republicans have 20 seats to defend vs 13 Dem, but besides the aforementioned Collins, they are all in safe Red States (Maybe Tilles in NC could be vulnerable too), but Republicans can pickup seats in Georgia and Michigan

So barring catastrophe there is little chance of the Republicans losing the Senate anytime, possibly for decades, so Dems won’t get a chance to use it against us anytime soon.
