German coalition collapses: What comes next?

BERLIN, Nov 6 (Reuters) - Germany's coalition collapsed on Wednesday as Chancellor Olaf Scholz fired his finance minister and paved the way for a snap election, triggering political chaos in Europe's largest economy hours after Donald Trump won the U.S. presidential election.

After dismissing Finance Minister Christian Lindner of the Free Democrats (FDP) party, Scholz is expected to head a minority government with his Social Democrats and the Greens, the second-largest party.

Scholz said he would call a confidence motion in his government for Jan. 15, the necessary precursor to holding an election by the end of March.

Under rules created to prevent the kind of coalition turmoil that hastened the end of Germany's interwar democracy, the chancellor largely controls the pace of events: the opposition can only push him out earlier if they can find a majority for a specific alternative chancellor, which would be challenging with the current parliamentary arithmetic.

(snip) Scholz said he would ask Friedrich Merz, leader of the opposition conservatives, to support urgently-needed budgetary measures, saying Germany's crisis-stricken economy could not wait until after the elections for government action.

Europe needs to go sit in a corner and think about what they’ve done.

Perhaps Frau Merkel might be available. After all she was the one that laid the foundation for what has become Germany’s current economic disaster. Since she broke it maybe she knows how to fix it.

As long as the Green Party is a controlling factor in a governing coalition, Germany will continue on its way to economic chaos and oblivion.

The SPD ie the Social Democrats are going to get crushed as are the Greens ie the Gaia Worshipers. The AfD will see its vote shares surge.

May be part of Germany's problem is the massive influx of third-world immigrants. That is what is changing the political makeup of many European nations.

As President Trump secures our border and starts deportation, those Nations may reconsider their socialist ideology. Our President will be returning our immigration and economics back to when they worked in his term, and was a model for other countries.

The AfD vote count is growing rapidly.
What party would form a coalition with them?
Surly not the crazy Greens, nor the SPD, FDP or even the CDU.
Maybe the CSU? What do you think ?

Under rules created to prevent the kind of coalition turmoil that hastened the end of Germany's interwar democracy...

For the curious, the reference is to the German national elections of 1932, wherein the Nazis got 37% of the popular vote and the Communists 14%. That equals 51, making it impossible to form a coalition of any kind that didn't contain one or the other of those parties. A coalition of the two was unthinkable, and the only thing the two parties agreed upon was the permanent alteration of the German government. That was a deadlock.

It wasn't unforeseen but the cure turned out to be fatal.
