Electoral College Calculator and Map Generator - 2024 (Dave Liep's Atlas of U.S. Presidential Elections)
Dave Liep's Atlas of U.S. Presidential Elections ^ | November 5th, 2024 | Dave Liep

This is the 2020 electoral map... Keep in mind... Republican states are blue, Democrat states are red. Dave maintains the historical original colors adopted by the political parties decades before the mainstream media and Democrats coopted the color blue in the 1990s. Blue has always historically been the Republican/Conservative color both in America and worldwide. Red has always historically been the Democrat/Liberal color both in America and worldwide. So it may take some adjusting for political newbies.

Dave's site will allow you to modify this 2020 map to achieve the electoral vote totals that you are predicting... It's an awesome way to make your prediction and display it. Simply right click on the electoral map after you have made your selections and you'll have a map with your prediction.

This is my prediction... Trump 285 Electoral Votes to Harris's 253.

Thanks for the reminder that the Republicans wore the Union blue, and the Democrats are the communist red.

Another place that has a great map is “270towin.com” You can assign a state to a candidate and see what that selection does to his/her EV total.

Not using current colors seems game playing to show the site’s intellectual superiority. And every time we get confused by the colors, we’re forced to remember how inferior we are. This is really stupid. There are historical issues I agree are important to bring to the fore so that they aren’t forgotten. This is not one of them.

But, yes, red was always the color of communists.

I agree...I’ve always noticed that. Red is universally seen as the color of left wing parties. It is also universally known as the color of danger.

Left wing site I think. Run a mock election or show polls or prediction and it always comes out with Klamu winning.

And that would be inappropriate, too. What graphics are for, is to give you information very quickly. Faster than reading the details. Rainbow would be just as confusing. And annoying.

Your user name makes me smile. Wonderful actor and wonderful character.

It’s not a leftwing site... It’s a site proving historical information. It shows every American election ever held, every party, every winner, loser, etc. It’s a very good site for historical research purposes and this site has been around for a very long time. It is NOT a ‘political’ site.

"Wonderful actor and wonderful character."

A great comedic talent. One of the best tombstone quotes ever as well ;-)

My favorite election year... 1972.

Nixon 520 electoral votes, McGovern 17.

Blue is either sad or raunchy.

These were the colors in 2000 bush v gore. Becuz it was so hi-profile, those colors became permanent.

Didn’t know that about the tombstone.

Due South - Blue Alberta Skies - Ride Forever - Paul Gross
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upOtOszyY0Q

He played an old Mountie in Due South and was wonderful. Toward the end of the song, he’s riding away with the hero’s father and thanks the ghost for riding his dead horse so he can see him again. Brings tears. Love him in that show.

I’ve lived in Massachusetts my entire life. For a long time after the 1972 election many cars here had bumper stickers that said “Don’t Blame Me,I’m From Massachusetts”.

I recall reading a long time ago that the Big Three networks used Blue for the incumbent party and red for the opposition party (from the early days of color TV in the 1960s).

The colors became fixed after the iconic "Bush Country" county map that showed Gore (with incumbent blue) winning the coastal cities and Bush (opposition red) winning the interior.
