An Ohio sheriff’s patrol commander who declared on Facebook that he would not help Democrats and would require proof of who a person voted for before providing them aid has apologized, blaming prescribed sleep aids for causing his “out of character” actions.
Lt. John Rodgers, a 20-year veteran of the sheriff’s office in Clark County, where Springfield is the county seat, made the statements in several posts on Facebook, WHIO-TV reported.
“I am sorry. If you support the Democrat Party I will not help you,” Rodgers reportedly wrote in one post. Another said: “The problem is that I know which of you supports the Democratic Party and I will not help you survive the end of days. The sheriff’s office said Rodgers, who has commanded the department’s road patrol, would remain on duty, with a written reprimand for violating the department’s social media policy.

I’d fire his ass. stupid. Even if he’s with us. That’s what the rats get away with.
I’d fire him for backing down and apologizing.
So would I.
Fighr fire with fire
Bingo! We want fighters
In the future just don’t help them like they did us with the storm victims from Helene. No need to announce it.
I'm dealing with a few other health issues, nothing extraordinary. Should be resolved by the end of the year.
“your doctor just prescribed a sleep aid”
So we’ll have to keep a close eye on your posts for anything unusual or untoward?
It gets irritating when my wife expresses her frustration over my hearing difficulties. I gently remind her that I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY ONE! I won't see any positive cash flow until January, when old bills start getting paid off.
If I act like I'm complaining, maybe I am. It's been worth it, because my 3YO granddaughter just celebrated her birthday, after being born 13 weeks premature. She's had so many struggles, but she's a fighter. The next step will be the removal of her trache tube. She makes all my problems disappear when I see her. My two other grandkids keep my spirits high.
It's difficult to identify "untoward posts" of mine, they're so common.
However, I've ceased telling one old story: on 7/4/80, I was invited to one of my NCO's quarters for a barbecue. I was the only one in the group that's white, my NCOs were all black. His wife cooked the best soul food I've ever eaten.
She expressed surprise when I asked for seconds on chitlins. "LT NHN, I didn't know you liked soul food so much!"
"Ma'am this is the best I've ever had, but for some reason, I feel like dancing!" While her jaw was hitting the floor, my NCOs laughed loudly. It was 1980, and that's how we rolled back then.
No, I keep that story, and others, away from polite society.
Sounds like regular seasoned citizen health issues. Thank goodness nothing major.
I’m 73 and know what you mean about those things creeping up one you. Eyes and ears aren’t what they used to be, but still good enough.
No grandkids for us yet — sad. Maybe someday!
Nice story about your NCOs and soul food.
