Entering Rafah and shutting down the tunnels used to smuggle weapons and fighters into Gaza and hostages out of Gaza so they would be beyond the reach of the IDF was the decisive factor in shutting down Hamas in Gaza.

Keeping Rafah out of the hands of Hamas is the key to a peaceful future for the Gaza
