A United States Postal Service worker has been arrested and charged with disposing of more than 1,000 pieces of election mail, including ballots and political campaign mailers.
USPS employee Ottis McCoy, stationed in Orlando, Florida, was charged with discarding more than 1,000 pieces of mail instead of delivering them to their addresses,
McCoy is charged with stealing, taking, or abstracting mail and faces a fine of up to $250,000 and a maximum of five years in prison.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service inspector Charles Johnsten observed surveillance footage showing McCoy “throwing large quantities of U.S. Mail into [a] wooded lot,” according to a criminal complaint filed with the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida
McCoy raised suspicion after a fellow employee helped him load a van with a large quantity of mail, only for him to return earlier than expected.
After checking the van’s tracking device, it was later confirmed that McCoy had deviated from his route.
The discarded mail was later dumped in a wooded area of Orlando located not far from McCoy’s route.
Prosecutors said that footage from a nearby doorbell camera captured McCoy dumping the mail.
“Inspectors collected the U.S. Mail and discovered more than 1000 pieces of U.S. Mail, including more than 400 pieces of political mail and one election ballot,” Johnston wrote in an affidavit, which accompanied photos of the discarded mail.
The affidavit included a photo of at least one absentee ballot, as investigators recovered more than 400 pieces of political mail.
Federal authorities are still investigating the matter and could be filing additional charges against McCoy.
The news comes just weeks after another postal worker was accused of dumping large quantities of mail rather than delivering them to their addresses.
DuJuan Butler was hit with federal charges of unlawfully detaining and delaying mail.
Butler was caught after uploading evidence of the crime to his TikTok account.
Different worker or the same worker?
Two different ones...............
This sounds more like a lazy POS than nefarious election stuff.
“This sounds more like a lazy POS than nefarious election stuff.”
They aren’t mutually exclusive.
Yes, we had one here back in the 80’s.
He owned a vacant lot with a big hole he dug and dumped mail into it just because ‘he didn’t feel like delivering it’..........
Protected class worker
My guess is that this results from laziness and incompetence rather than political malice.
Waterboard him and find out if he’s lazy or if he was paid to dump.
Which would describe 90% of federal employees. As Elon did with Twitter, he can do with the federal workforce, who vote 99% or more for the democrats.
Just plain lazy.
Happens a lot.
For some reason...................
Yep, lots of examples..............
Don’t be too quick to say that. Did he place the enormous pile of ballots on top of an enormous pile of ordinary mail that he dumped a week ago? Can he take police to other locations where he has dumped piles of ordinary mail? Has he been lazy for weeks? Months? Years?
He the only time he got “lazy” was with this specific load of election ballots, a week before the election, as Trump is surging, then I think it is very unwise to shrug and say “he got lazy that day” is the right answer.
Wait one second, the media denies any and all ballot fraud or issues.
Perhaps this will stop when these perps are tried and convicted for treason. Death penalty is the best deterrent so long as they are open to the public.
He is only in trouble because he got caught. The cheating postal union workers aren’t suppose to be so blatant about destroying ballots.
Was it Publishers Clearinghouse week ?
Question his coworker that helped him load the mail and his direct supervisor.
