A long time ago, I was calling on industrial customers in Laredo. One of them was within sight of the international bridge. I asked the manager if they were having trouble with Mexican gangs. He said no. He also told me that the gangs were not afraid of the feds or the state police. They were deathly afraid of the Laredo cops. They would take care of business.
