This is the solution to depopulation. Robots will replace illegal migrants at the bottom of the economic chain.

'It can walk your dog, mow your lawn, get the groceries, just be your friend.' When I was a young teen, I liked to tinker with stuff, building my own radio sets, rebuilt my dad's carburetor long before I could drive.
Imagine kids nowadays tinkering with a Optimus robot, adding components (like Wolverine sharp claws) and rewriting the software ("I'll teach that bully Billy who is boss"). More than just a friend!

But the vision is for them to serve millions of households, such as cooking, mowing lawns, and caring for the elderly There goes my wife's chores; then what will she do? (Finally got her to mow the lawn with a manual push mower.)

Feed my horses and cows and pick up horse pens. That would be worth every penny to me.

I want one! Why limit yourself to one? Build your own gang (or militia). These are going to be popular with drug lords.

I would pay the 30K for one if it gave medical grade massages. Built in scanner to see where the problems are.
To: roadcat
I just want one to help keep the house clean, that’s all. Other than that, it’ll be on the charger for the remainder of the day.

I would pay the 30K for one if it gave medical grade massages. I've gotten some great massages in the past. One was from a young gal wearing a short tight leather skirt. I don't think an Optimus robot wearing a leather skirt climbing on my back would do as great a job. (My massages were for medical reasons.)

""I have always wondered how a programmer could enforce those rules. Lots of subjectivity and interpretation in those terms.Asimov wrote a lot of stories on that very subject. He explored the effectiveness of the laws based on a variety of situations. I remember it as good reading (but I haven't reread any since the sixties/seventies).
BTW, he failed to predict the calculator - he had space navigators using slide rules (slip sticks). ;)

One of the things he predicted was human populations crashing as a result of too much wealth and boredom created by the robot era.
