Elon Musk has showcased his army of $30,000 Tesla Optimus robots that are designed to help with household chores, prompting people to draw comparisons to the dystopian future depicted in I, Robot.

In shocking and impressive footage, the humanoid robots were seen stiffly walking in single file across a stage while viewers stood jaw-dropped on the sidelines.

Musk said attendees could walk up to the Optimus robots who would do things like serve drinks.

'At scale, you should be able to buy an Optimus robot for $20,000 to $30,000,' he said.

'It can walk your dog, mow your lawn, get the groceries, just be your friend.'

The footage goes on to show the human-like bot sitting at a family table, playing with a child, as well as wiping down a kitchen surface and collecting post.

The robot, which is intended for industrial and domestic uses, debuted at AI Day on September 30 after first being announced at AI Day in August 2021.

'Tesla Bots are initially positioned to replace people in repetitive, boring, and dangerous tasks. But the vision is for them to serve millions of households, such as cooking, mowing lawns, and caring for the elderly,' Musk wrote in an essay published in China Cyberspace magazine.

Since it’s human shaped why not give it a human looking head/face? Less creepy than the black void.

Do these robots come in sexy red haired green eyed young female models?

Asking for a friend.

It is 5’8” but I agree, it looks taller and is intimidating. Also, I am afraid of the Tesla robot bursting into flames in my house while charging.

“Since it’s human shaped why not give it a human looking head/face?”

But please not one that is TOO human. That would creep me out. Maybe human-like facial features but transparent or something.

But can they drive cars? And if they get in an accident can they be sued?

Good question. Maybe they can drive cars if they can pass a driver's test.

Maybe they cannot be sued, but perhaps their maker or owner could be sued... or maybe if their is some aftermarket software...

I have always wondered how a programmer could enforce those rules. Lots of subjectivity and interpretation in those terms.

Is it going to whine about watching “C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate” every time I turn it off for the evening?

Maybe human-like facial features but transparent or something.

Each one should have unique facial identifying features so it can't be replaced by a forgery. The Massad could have a fun time with them.

Yuja Wang.

Yuja Wang is talented, beautiful and not ashamed of her femininity. But Taempon Tim would probably recommend she have surgery to "transition" to male and then require "him" to use taempons.
