A Virginia School Board is paying $575K to settle a lawsuit with a former high school teacher (and devout Anglican) who was wrongly fired for refusing to use a student’s personal pronouns. According to a press release from the Alliance Defending Freedom:
ADF attorneys filed the lawsuit against the school board in September 2019. Peter Vlaming taught French in the district for nearly seven years. The West Point School Board fired him after he stated he couldn’t in good conscience comply with the superintendent’s demand that he refer to one of his students using pronouns inconsistent with the student’s sex. Vlaming tried to accommodate the student by consistently using the student’s new preferred name and by avoiding the use of pronouns altogether. But school officials ordered him to stop avoiding the use of pronouns to refer to the student, even when the student wasn’t present, and to start using pronouns inconsistent with the student’s sex.
ADF Senior Counsel Tyson was clear about the nature of the violation: “Peter wasn’t fired for something he said; he was fired for something he couldn’t say. The school board violated his First Amendment rights under the Virginia Constitution and commonwealth law.” Along with being awarded $575,000 in damages and attorneys’ fees, “the school board cleared Peter Vlaming’s firing from his record, and separate from the settlement agreement, changed its policies to conform to the new Virginia education policies established by Gov. Glenn Youngkin that respect fundamental free speech and parental rights.”
Turn around on them for not using your pronouns and get 10 times more triggered. Put it back in their court.

Pronouns nonsense will be fading away, especially after awards like this one. Too bad it wasn’t $100 million to bankrupt that district and have Youngkin bring in a new hand-picked board.
I learned all pronouns 60 years ago. I have no intention of re-eduction.
French is LITERALLY a gendered language.

This is why, despite all the conservative "victories" since Reagan, the culture has steadily moved leftward.

Would a school board have forced a Muslim to draw a picture of Mohammed? Of course not. But they think it’s perfectly fine to trample on the beliefs of Christians.
It’s good to see this settlement. Let’s hope it’s something we’ll see more of in the future.

CRT/DEI have just been renamed student/employee “wellness” or “well being” programs/groups.
For example, there is a group of marxist/maoist educators who aren’t going to give up on harming and dividing people as a means to increase their own sense of power and feed their own narcissism. They have formed a group called RADS - “the Relationships Across Differences Roundtable (RADs), a coalition of more than 70 academics and industry leaders committed to advancing inclusivity in all its forms — race, gender, ethnicity, religion, ability, neurodiversity, and age.” Their goal? “DEI must be championed by the top level of management, and leaders must learn how to integrate DEI initiatives into the business so they become embedded in the mission, rather than additive.”
Jan Murray, founder and CEO of High Vibe Healing Collective, lets the catlady out of the bag, “we are societally conditioned to seek well-doing over well-being because that reinforces a sense of hierarchy and dominance, reflecting the values of white supremacy...”

Knowing these so-called ‘academics’ are driven by a pathological need to conquer, to validate their ‘wokeness’ to each other by promoting hatred of American values, societal norms and the demonization of a specific race or ethnicity, our game is to refuse to play their game of shells.
