Yes, our 3 years in Germany put me way behind, too. I was shocked at how TV had changed by the time we got home! LOL!

Dark Shadows, Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, Night Gallery, and though it wasn’t creepy, it was off-beat - Addams Family.

I liked all of those. We only caught the last season of Dark Shadows - that one started up while we were overseas. But friends caught me up and it was fun and campy. And I thought Quentin Collins was hot.

Howdy, EGC! Great score on the quiz! Gizmo seems to approve by the looks of that big ol' smile. Sorry you had a power outage, but at least you had a heads-up ahead of time to prepare for it. Not much time, but I guess it's better than none. LOL!

I grew up on horror movies. Mom liked them and let me watch them with her from the time I was very young. Vampire movies were - and still are - my faves. Imagine that! LOL

Anything with Vincent Price, I love. Scared me when I was little but when I got older, his sense of humor peeked through.

Don’t care much for the more recent horror movies. They’re more “gore-or” than horror.

You were there during the pre-AFN TV days too? Just the radio. You could probably get Radio Luxembourg from there as well. We could get it at night and we loved tuning in to all the British hits.

October’s always fun because more horror movies show up throughout the month.

The movie channel I get has movies from the ‘30s up through the ‘70s. I don’t watch it every day but check it out a few times each week.

I have no online tv platforms. I pay enough for what I watch on tv.

Are you an Anne Rice fan? I liked her vampire books. The movies were kind of disappointing.

I liked the movies Nosferatu (the scary, old silent version) and The Hunger.

Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))

I wondered if they’d sneak the power outage on y’all after postponing it. At least it wasn’t a long one.

Looks like y’all had a good time at Chisolm Trail Park - especially Gizmo. Found a smelly spot. LOL

They were all good shows, weren’t they? All three of Serling’s shows pop up periodically for a short run on tv but not the other two. Not here at least.

Dark Shadows came on at 3:30 here and we barely got home from school in time to watch it. Barnabas was my guy. LOL

Yes! Love Ann Rice’s vampire series. I have all of them.
And I was disappointed in the movies, too, but that’s usually the case when movies are made from books.

Nosferatu will be on the movie channel several times this month. They only have so many movies and repeat them. That’s ok. Might miss one one day when they show it but can catch it another time. They don’t have The Hunger, apparently, because I haven’t seen it there yet.

All we had was German TV with no sound because our American TV wasn’t compatible to their networks. I don’t remember anything about RadioLuxembourg. We did listen to AFN radio. That was the only way we could keep up with the music scene. At that time I was totally oblivious to politics.

10/10. I’m old now, I guess.

Reminds me of a Modern History class I took and it covered the modern era Presidents. I said, “History class? I voted for half of those guys!”

Christ’s Character

Bible in a Year :

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Galatians 5:22-23

Following a challenging tour in Afghanistan, Scott, a sergeant in the British Army, fell apart. He remembered: “I was in a dark place.” But when he “discovered Jesus and began following Him,” his life changed radically. Now he seeks to share the love of Christ with others, especially veterans with whom he competes in the Invictus Games, an international event for wounded and injured members and veterans of the armed forces.

For Scott, reading the Bible, praying, and listening to worship music grounds him before going to the Games. God then helps him “to reflect the character of Jesus and show kindness, gentleness, and grace” to the fellow veterans competing there.

Scott names here some of the fruit of the Spirit that the apostle Paul wrote about to the believers in Galatia. They struggled under the influence of false teachers, so Paul sought to encourage them to stay true to God and His grace, being “led by the Spirit” (Galatians 5:18). By doing so, they would then produce the Spirit’s fruit—“love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (vv. 22-23).

With God’s Spirit living within us, we too will burst forth with the Spirit’s goodness and love. We too will show gentleness and kindness to those who surround us.

Reflect & Pray

How can God help you to cultivate the fruit of the Spirit? What practices can help you to stay in tune with Him?
